There are recipes for other Thai dishes there as well.

Thank you for the link to the recipe page. On that page they also encourage one to enjoy "tart cherries".Bamboo Grove wrote:If you can´t find it, try to make it yourself

I do confess having been quite intrigued about the tart cherries and more than slightly concerned
about possibly having missed something unique. It turned out, however, that they were discussing only food.
A bit of an anticlimax, I'd say.

Lots of places do a great Masaman in Hua Hin.
My favourite is Pan Din Tong just before you reach the flyover to go to Pranburi.
I'm pretty sure some of the chefs may have changed in the mentioned eateries 4 months go ( when the thread was started ) so maybe we will have new places on the list to try out
Could anyone please send me one of these "Southern" Masaman curries.
I do hope that people posting realise that this is most definately NOT a Thai dish.

Bamboo Grove, meet JW. Looks like your search for northern Thai food may have been solved. I'm sure they can do "off menu". PeteJW wrote:The family that run our kitchen are from Chiang Mai.....

massaman surry
The real massaman curry is cooked with beef chunks not chicken, cooked very slowly so the beef melts in your mouth. its influence comes from india, thats why it contains potatoes.
several muslim stalls around hua hin sell it, but nothing like homemade.

I thought spuds came from South America, probably on the same Portuguese boat that brought the chillies to Asia.nightstalker wrote:The real massaman curry is cooked with beef chunks not chicken, cooked very slowly so the beef melts in your mouth. its influence comes from india, thats why it contains potatoes.
