Investing in Maylasia

Does anyone know what the laws are on investing in Maylasia. And if it is easier than Thailand for farangs to buy property there, and if so is the property the same price as Thailand.

As things seem to be getting worse in Thailand as regards to retirement I thing I will start looking into buying property in Maylasia:

I was reading the forum about ( changes to retirement extensions ) and got a little concerned. When we bought our house in HH our intentions were to retire within the next 2-3 years.

When I read that the Thai government was going to make it more difficult for Farangs to get retirements visas it has made me wonder if it is better to sell my house ( which I love ) and invest in Maylasia were they welcome foreigners who retire. I do love HH but I cannot retire there if I have always got it in the back of my mind they are going to make it so difficult for farangs to live there.

I hope things change in the next couple of years to make it easier for us to make a life in HH without any disturbance.

Jackie, I understand you totally! ...and you're true!
After 13 years living in TH, I can't see a chance that something is coming up for foreigners!
Unfortunately, it isn't easy for me to change the country right now!
(I'd love to do - honestly!)
I feel a little bit envy about people, which are "free like birds" and can choose another SEA-country to stay!
TH becomes more and more worst!
It's a tendency I could observe for many years!
Even the Phils offers you a more comfortable life as foreigner and investor as TH.

Sorry to hear, that you sale your house....a dream & hope is included, right?...but, if you're a little bit independent (financially & privately), it's the best decision you can do!

IÂ´d agree with Jackie and hogus, after 18+ years in Thailand, it is going for the worse. ThereÂ´s plenty of proof of that in these and other forums without the need to elaborate here.

I don't think Thailand is getting worse for people that are living here on retirement visas.

That recent rule change has now been reversed and is back as was.

As for Malaysia, spend some time there first before you do anything.
It is a toilet, and a Bintabaht bar toilet at that, not just an ordinary toilet.

I completely disagree. Malaysia is a wonderful country and seems much cleaner than many places we've been to in LOS.

How does Malaysia make it as a Binthabat toilet when it's providing the following?

1- Malaysia My Second Home project enables you to:
a- Buy house, land, condo on your OWN NAME - not company
b- Gives your FAMILY (spouse and kids younger than 18 years old and yes all of YOUR FAMILY) 10 YEARS VISA IN ONE GO
c- You can import any car and furniture for your own personal use for DUTY FREE
d- You can get a loan from the local banks ON YOUR OWN NAME

2- As a foreign business owner:
a- You can be 100% owner of your own company
b- You have the same rights as the Malays
c- Depending on the business you are in you can get 10 years TAX FREE

3- Language:
a- Most of the Malays speak, read write in English
b- Most of the schools are using British Curriculum
c- You can get most of the EU or OZ goods cheaper and more available
d- Accommodation, cars, transportation, food, labour is cheaper

Now you tell me MR. BURGER in which country the Bintabaht Toilet Resides? Be honest it might affect some property sales if you favour Malaysia.

Or maybe not, Im being completely honest, only a few houses left to sell out of 3 projects, and then I'm done. So not applicable, sorry to dissapoint.

I accept it has more farang-friendly laws than Thailand, but I wouldn't live in a country I do not like just for that reason.
Plus all the things you mention have to be counter-balanced by the fact that's its about 50% (complete guess) more expensive to live in than Thailand.

It's a toilet to me, because the people are racist IMO, and no-where near as friendly and laid back as Thai's. They smell bad (fact) and make their women wear those full black gowns, faces covered, while the hypocrit men wear jeans, Nike's, baseball caps and t-shirts.
I've seen the women made to sit outside restaurants while the men eat inside (cavemen at best).

Toilet, WC, Bog, Lavatory, Carzee, rest room, sh!te hole ........ IMHO.

But if you like it, good luck to you. Doesn't affect or bother me one way or the other.
