Seafood restaurants/closing time

Post by lomuamart »

As an old friend was visiting over the weekend, we decided to go to one of the seafood restaurants on stilts north of The Hilton.
As we'd played golf that afternoon, he'd wanted a massage and we had a couple of beers beforehand, we didn't get to the restaurants until just before 10pm. Tried 4 or so and they all were closing up, although one willing to serve us was found closer to the fishing pier.
It's been quite a while since I've been to any of them, but I was astounded that they were all closed at 10pm on a Saturday night. I've been at them before when they've still been relatively busy at midnight.
Anyone else found this? Is it some new regulation that's been brought in or just a sign of the times in terms of trade? I know it's low season, but Saturday nights were always busy with Thais.

I think it is just a case that now things are quieter and there are not the customers to make it worth their while to stay open. We always try to get there by 9 at the latest.

Have found that you need to be at most of the restaurants by 9 ish or the food and service are not very good. If anyone knows some good late restaurants ( any type of food) I would be grateful as we prefer to have a drink and then eat later,

When your Villa Supermarket opens down there, you'll probably have a 24 hour service of relatively small things, sandwiches, all day-night breakfast and probably a few Thai dishes. If you need "bulk" after a night drinking to save yourself from the morning after, that place may do the trick. Foodland over here has the same 24 hour service, and you can shop 24 hours also.

Now, if you want to get serious, someone open a Denny's. 24 hour Grand Slam breakfast....2 eggs, 2 large pancakes, bacon, hash browns or grits, fruit, maybe a few sausage links, toast and a bottomless cup of coffee or tea. Plus, their entire other menu 24 hours a day.

But, we really don't need that here, we'll all be waddling around like my fellow countrypeople are now, in size 50 pants and 24 dresses.

It's a terrorist plot, they're going to make us all too fat to catch them. Pete

Sam, some of the open fronted Thai restaurants on Pethakasem road heading north around the Royal Palace area are open very late. We sometimes have managed to get a decent meal after one when the bars close. There are a couple of places up near the Hua Hin hospital that stay open pretty much all night, but they are very local!
