Phil O'Donnell Testimonial Game

Post by Thai Tam »

Phil O'Donnell tragically died whilst playing for Motherwell in December.

Today, a special day in the history of Celtic, a testimonial game will be played between Celtic and Motherwell with all proceeds going to charity

The game is a sell out of 61,000 and Henrik Larsson returns to Paradise

It has been a very emotional week for Celtic so let's hope today is a celebration of Phil's life and a chance for all supporters to unite in football.

Tam if you follow some of the links on the RH side of the page there is also some good articles written by former playes and managers that make good reading as well.
Would imagine a few buses from Luton went up for the game, probably made a weekend of it after going up for the game on Thursday.
Perhaps some of the fans will now get off Starchan's back now after this seasons performance.

I read somewhere your health was not so good while you were over in HH last time, hope all is Ok now and you are fit and well.

Chelsea,

Many thanks.

Had a wee problem in Hua Hin - but now I am fighting fit. I had a problem with the insurance company who will not pay out due to undeclared precondition, my fault, so as a Scot that really did affect my health!

What is your connection with Luton? I know they have a massive Celtic supporters club, indeed one of my friends used to travel regular with them when he worked with GM.

Well, Strachan has done what only the truly Celtic managers achieved. I think anyone who watched the post-match huddlle with his players will realise how passionate he is and how his players respect him. For myself, whilst I've been uncomfortable with some of the football we have played this season and also with WGS's dealings with the media, I have always believed in letting the man's record speak for itself.

Alas, for some Celtic supporters they will never take to Strachan as they are long on memory and short on forgiveness and appreciation.

Maybe catch you fr that beer some day.

Tam I used to live in Harpenden, 7 miles from Luton. Used to work in Leagrave and drink in the Leigon there, where there was many many Celtic Supporters.
Went to the Celtic Club a few times with some of the guys in the late 70's early 80's before I came to Australia.

When I lived in Melbourne I used to drink in a pub called the Windsor Castle just out of the City, That was run by two mad Celtic blokes one whose name was Hugh Murney, he played football and coached out here. I think he was from somewhere near Morton

Will never forget the day that Australia played Scotland in 1985. Because the pub was so well known it seemed half of Scotand turned up. They ended up having to shut the roads around the pub for the day and night because there was so many people there and no traffic could get past.
After the game most of the team came back for a drink, and was a very late and boozy night.

The used to run a side from there called Phrahan Celtic from there and used to play in the local Victorian leage.
One of your ex Coventry boys also moved to Melbourne (Ian Wallace), he played and coached while I was there.

So although being English, have had my fair share of mixing with the Jocks, and lived to tell the tale. :D :D
