If Chelsea can beat Arsenal to Villa (David not Aston) and with this guy in charge I think another title is on the cards. Maybe a treble. The understudy wrote:....it would be truly interesting bow his first EPL season look like!!!

Even with Drogba on form, Chelsea still lack the goal scoring abilties. Last year's goal total was extemely low for a tem finishing second. We can not raid West Ham this year as they have nothing left worth taking.

Very risky appointment in my mind, although he has won a couple of trophies in South America, he has no club management experience, and really has not achieved anything with Portugal.
It is a whole different ball game from national team manager to a club manager with the pressure on for a whole season.
Yes, he has the personality and presence to be a Chelsea manager, whether he has the skills and be able to handle the constant pressure of a 60 plus game season, we will wait and see.
In the short term his 1st and most important signing would be to retain the services of the current asst manager Steve Clarke.

IMHO I think it is an excellent appointment and just what Chelsea needed at this moment. One things for sure he is his own man and does not have favourites (remember Figo).
He has won 9 trophies in South American club football and won their version of the Champions League with 2 different teams so although never managing in Europe he knows what is required.
No doubt he will have money to spend but maybe some of the "want aways" like Carvalho will decide to stay.
No wonder he is advising Ronaldo to go to Real.
Although he does not speak English I am sure the after match interviews will be every bit as entertaining as Jose,s were. Can,t wait to watch the famous touchline rants as well.
Bring it on I say!

Glory! Glory! Man Utd.
Higgy, what do you think the chance of seeing Ronaldo in a Blue shirt in the next year or so.
Scolari made him capt of Portugal for the 1st game of the Euro 2008, perhaps a lightening raid under Real's radar is on the cards.
Still have to agree with Guess that Villa would be a good signing if we every managed to get him.

I can't see Man U selling Ronaldo to Chelsea for any amount of money.
Good luck to Scolari though, lets see if the always open cheque book owner can get this manager to buy a team capable of winning the Champions League cup.

JD I do not think a lot of players will be coming in. Perhaps he will now be able to get Ferrera settled at right back and also convince Cavaleo his future is at the Bridge, the rest of the defence picks itself.
The midfield is pretty well covered at present, just perhaps need some good cover players in case of injury
I think that Drogba will be off and really that will not be a bad thing, will be over 30 and perhaps we have had the best years from him already. So really the forwards is where we need to spend.
Villa would be a good signing to start with and then perhaps a couple more to bolster the stocks. But in saying that I think that quite a few will leave before any new ones are signed.

Here is who I reckon will go when Scolari gets there.
Drogba, Sidwell, Pizarro, Malouda, Ben Haim, Anelka, Hilario, Boulahrouz.
.
it was interesting when looking at some of the fringe players who played some of the league cup games, and also looking at the reserve squad. Most of the players listed in the squad all seem to be young british players, so lets hope that some can break through in the next couple of years.
Looking at the Portugal squad, Scolari has not worried about blooding young talent, so will be interested to see if he will do the same at Chelsea.
They have spent a lot of money on their own acadamy over the last few years so lets hope it will now start to bring a few more home grown players through the ranks.
