Tatoo removal in HH?
My son has 'homemade' tattoos on 2 of his fingers, now the school/
college has told him to get them removed ASAP or he will not be able
to sit his exams.
The Mrs tried the Poly-clinic,and got a dumb reaction from the bimbo
behind the counter... "Arai-na??"
Do we need to be looking at a BKK hospital for this?
Will a tattooist's shop point us in a positive direction?
Anybody else here had the same problem??
What does tattoo removal involve?...laser treatment? surgical skin removal? Red marks on fingers give him chance to gain marks at school.

Laser treatment as far as I know is the only way. How about wrapping some sticky plasters around his fingers and then tell the school that it is a painstaking process and the bandages cannot be removed as it is part of the treatment.
There is a tattoo shop in HH, try a trip to see the owner in there he may have some ideas.
It is a long process and extremely painful, and it does scar the skin. It will not be invisible,

I was being nice and also didnt mention the pain involved - my mate had it done and it hurts much more than the tattooing ever did. On hands it will be hellish.
The scarring is significant and takes skin grafts to effectively cover completely on some areas of the body. Without it looks like a burn....which is basically what they do....the laser burns the ink out of the skin just like a hot poker would.
Its also, in the UK at least, pretty expensive.
There are, as suggested, two quick options:
Plasters/bandages....he will have to take these off eventually tho
Tattoo coverups - basically tattoo solid black "rings" over the top
There is also the option of whacking the silly little sod so he learns not to do it again....I would.

tattoos
my mate laser removal on his hands too.
his reaction was, no more painful than the tattoos themselves & after a while the scars did heal well & you can hardly see them without close inspection.
wasn't that expensive at the time (about 10 years ago) so not sure about costs nowadays.
about 25 years ago, i worked with a guy that had all his tattoos removed, arms back & chest.
he just ended up with huge scars where the tattoos were, basically the same shape & size of the original. looked worse than tattoos in my opinion.
i'm sure laser treatment has moved on extensively these days, but there would be scarring for sure.
dependant on the size, hand scars are likely to be less obvious

US: Found this site from Bumrungrad Hospital, might be helpful:

An ex. student of mine (female) wants to be a flight attendant. She had a tattoo on her upper arm - a big no no for flight attendants. She had it removed and it's left a small scar in the shape of the original tattoo.
How about women's make up? Find a colour closest to his skin colour and dab it on. Temporary, I know, but it may fool the powers that be who have come up with this crazy request.

Thank you all for suggestions on how to remove tattoos, I'm grateful
for the replies I got.
(Some of the daft ones maybe the smartest way forward)...maybe
break his fingers then his tatts are covered by plaster-cast and he
will learn (possibly) to write with his left hand...that makes 2 uses
for his left hand...ha. Cheers now...US.

You can buy special, thick, waterproof make up, especially for covering scars/birthmarks etc. In UK, doctors or hospitals could tell you where to get it. Here, who knows?
Just wondering if, in the short term, it might be worth asking a health professional if it can be bought here & then get him to BKK for the removal when it's convenient. Good luck

Correct. If they have been put on by a proper electric needle they will go down fairly deep and laser is required.sandman67 wrote:tattoo removal involves lasers and leaves scars.
There is a plastic surgeon at Petcharat Hospital in Petchaburi to save you going all the way to BKK first. The guy floats between Bangkok and Petchaburi so make an appointment.
I don't think the treatment will be cheap.
The gloves sound like a good idea. Tell others it is a skin complaint that cannot be exposed to air and it's contagious to stop them wanting a look.
PS. The tattoo shaped scars can be tattooed over with fake birth marks and Port Wine stains. (Brown usually with Thai skin colouring).
