Re: The 10K Election Handout Farce

Most of the food supply in Thailand is controlled by one cartel so it'll be a big payday for CP. Time to buy their stock? Probably already priced in. Expect annual profits report will be exceptional. Still, when the powers that be here talk about stimulating the Thai economy they really mean...

Re: All imported goods now face 7% VAT

The 2nd of my 2 packages arrived from China today. Nothing on either package advising the need to pay VAT. Out of interest, did you pay your VAT? As it was only 21 baht, I did. Maybe the IT 'incident' saved you a few baht? Or maybe so many packages come in that customs cannot check them all to even...

Looking at the list of excursions there won't be many purchases subject to VAT. No VAT on food.

Re: All imported goods now face 7% VAT

It should be calculated and paid by the vendor who then charges it back to you when you place your order. The larger places like Amazon US do it already with anticipated customs duty and taxes. Is that a definite 'should', or an 'if common sense prevails, should'? The reason I ask This bill include...

VAT on online purchases from overseas

From this month items purchased from overseas will be charged Thailand VAT (7%), no matter how low the item value is. I just received a small package from overseas delivered by the post office. It has a small sticker (in Thai) advising that 21 baht VAT is payable (customs declaration has value at US...

I think the pothole filling is taking place all over. They did around our way (Pae Mai to Smor Phrong) the other day.

Re: Thailand version of Google Street View launched

An old thread, but still current. They've just been up my Soi doing a new capture for street view. In the past I've often seen the car going around with it's camera turret on top looking very strange. Today, it was a Grab motorcycle. Instead of having a green bag on the back, the guy had a tripod, ...

Re: Government buses to/from Swampy airport.

Whilst I agree, the more links/options the better, but why totally ignore Don Mueang Airport? Last year 26,980,428 passengers went through Don Mueang as opposed to 51,700,000 who went through Suvarnabhumi. I'm not saying they need as frequent a bus service as Suvarnabhumi, but if they are adding mo...

Saw one of them a few years ago doing the smaller sois though not obviously a Grab driver. I am in that year's street view. [emoji846]

Looks like the direct debit method wasn't used in June (for us anyway). No payment deducted. Inconvenience looming?!

Re: Birds of Thailand

Sad story. A couple of weeks ago we found this juvenile bee-eater on the ground, unable to fly. It was unable to properly fold its right wing. . DSCF4072.jpg . We took it to an animal hospital, where an x-ray showed the wing bone was broken adjacent to the shoulder. The vet strapped the wing up as b...

Re: Birds of Thailand

^^ We occasionally see them here, but not as often as in years gone by. I remember trying to catch one that came in the house. It climbed all over and in and out of the furniture. Hopefully the nests will be OK. The wood swallows have at least one hatchling. Also there's a bulbul nest (haven't been...
