Re: Thai Baht vs. USD Dropping Like a Rock

What to Do? A couple of years ago we were looking at TH for retirement. The AUS$ has dropped from just over 30Baht to 25.6. Was in Bali a couple of weeks ago and exchange was !0,000 Rph and spending power hadn't changed much from 3 years ago. Love Asia, but where to go in retirement, Cambodia, Laos,...

Re: Retiring to Thailand early, do I have enough?

Aussie pension for retired couple is approx. 65,000 bht on exchange 25bht to Aus$. We can supplement that with house/assets/super equity to about 30,000 a month. All good unless the exchange rate drops further!

Re: Retiring to Thailand early, do I have enough?

Pray let me in on the secret, I will appreciate any advice after all I have paid in tax for 35 years! Out of curiosity, I just looked on the net and found this: http://www.planet-boomer.com/aus/pensions/ This is all the good information that Aussies thinking of retiring to TH need to know. It can w...

Re: Retiring to Thailand early, do I have enough?

Another potentially BIG expense will be school fees for your children. The International schools will probably improve as far as quality and choice is concerned, but the expense can be huge. Could send my 40 year old back to school! :D :D Seriously, thanks for all the feedback. The one thing I have...

Retiring to Thailand early, do I have enough?

Been a while since I've been on here. I'm at the stage want to get out of Aus to Thailand. I've turned 65 and eligible for full aged pension, but wife only 59 so a while before she is eligible. I've done all the sums and if we sell up here, can live on 75,000 a month. If I wait until wife gets OAP i...

Re: Do You Like Thai Food?

Love Thai food, but variety is the spice of life. It is well known that a bit of Prik is good for you, but too much Prik can have bad after effects, build your tolerance to chilli slowly! Most belly problems come from bad hygiene. You can go to a really clean looking restaurant and have problems nex...

Re: Snakes in the garden

Looks like a green vine snake or whip snake.
Danger to humans: Not dangerous to humans. Though it has a weak venom, it only takes effect if the snake is able to chew for an extended period of time and is not potent enough to cause symptoms past itchiness and mild swelling.
