Re: Custom Built Counter Chairs/Stools

...Might be worth another try. At the time of your post SOT was having problems with computer hacks which delayed his response to a couple of my queries. You can always try to visit the factory unit - he has an office there.

Building permit

Can anyone tell me how long it normally takes to get a building permit in Hua Hin (Koh Toa area, if that makes a difference)?
Thanks in advance

Re: Question for the Swimming Pool experts

Grout disappearing from the swimming pool can be one of two things - the grouting wasn't carried put correctly in the first place; or the poolwater is too 'aggressive' ie too acidic (pH too low) causing the grout to be dissolved. Check the pH level of the pool water and also the alkalinity, which ac...

@prcscct:
I'd be happy to stand for a few beers next time we're over in HH - probably about October this year. Housewarming? Probably about early 2015. By the way -any ex-Aramcons out there?

Wood or aluminium window/door frames?

I'm starting a house build shortly and need to decide on using wood frames or aluminium frames for patio doors and windows etc. I prefer the look of wood over aluminium (it would look better with the teak floors and stone facings) but am concerned about the maintenance costs in the longer term, part...

Re: rats in the attic

I would agree with the post that said 'get an exterminator in'. Problem with self treatment is that if you only put a small amount down, and don't check it regularly to top it up, the rats can get a sub-lethal dose and become 'bait-shy' after that. Normal practice is to put an non-poisonous bait dow...

Re: Room echoing

You could line the walls (and/or underdraw the ceiling, if possible) with acoustic tiles - these are the tiles which are covered in tiny holes - in a regular or irregular pattern. They basically absorb the sound energy from 'noise' and prevent it from being reflected back into the room as more noise...

Re: Man & Bulldozer or digger cost

I recently had land cleared (740 m2) at Koh Toa, just south of Hua Hin. It took 1 man with a CAT (brought to the land on a low loader) about 2 hours to clear the overgrowth, including a couple of large trees. All the cuttings and rubbish etc were taken away and the land left completely clear. Cost a...

Re: Wanted: Air Compressor

Why don't you try a full scuba tank? It may be easier to get hold of and transport etc? A full one would be at about 3000psi.

Re: Cleaning my water tank

Hi James. I would recommend you to use sodium hypochlorite. It's commonly used to disinfect potable water all round the world, and most waters disinfected this way usually contain a slight residual. It's also used extensively to treat swimming pools and keep them from becoming bacterial reservoirs. ...

Greetings to all @HHF. Been browsing the site for a while but only recently registered to post messages. My Thai wife and I recently bought land south of HH, had it cleared and levelled and now waiting for finalisation of building plans ( and an influx of cash) to start building. I anticipate this w...

Re: How did you find Hua Hin Forum?

Greetings to all@HHF (and all the best for Christmas & the New Year). I found the site via a guy running the 'retiring in Thailand' site - (alan@). somewhere in there was a reference or a link to HHF.
