Re: Visiting Bangkokians - Don't We Love Them

How would we know how good our driving is if we did not have the Bangkokians to show us how not to do it (or just make us jealous about how they can get away with bad parking). All part of the joy of living in Hua Hin. I am sure that there would be something else to complain about if they stopped ac...

Re: Getting around in hua hin

Someone is telling you porkies. Plenty of transport available from the cheap and frequent Songtaew during the day through to more expensive minivans. Lots of options and price ranges. Check the forum as there is plenty of info.

Re: Malaysia My Second Home Program failed

As my wife is Thai and from the Hua Hin area I never considered Malaysia as an option and here was top of the list. Would be nice if similar incentives were available here... would be nice if I won the lottery too... dream on.

Re: Car rental in hua hin

Renting a car is easy and as Big Boy says you had best get an international licence. Driving here is very different from the UK and I would recommend looking through the motoring section as a guide to some of the hazards and differences you will find here. If you have never been here before it can b...

Re: Defensive driving

I have done a defensive driving course after driving here for a few years and the instructor said my driving was pretty good mainly due to surviving here. I also drove in Korea where the saying is that ' indicators are something put on export models '. Difficult to tell people about driving here, th...

Re: The demise of small shops

I wonder if things will change here the same way they did in Europe. It seems illogical that all the 7-11's and family marts can survive given how close they are to the next one and with various local shops in between which will undercut them by a baht or two. Like others who have also been here sin...

Re: Overstaffing in Thai superstores

Somewhat perversely the reason I go to Watsadu is the service as described in the original post to some degree. I get fed up when I go to HomePro with all the help being offered and all I want to do is look around. Not getting help when asking though is something I am not familiar with. As my nephew...

Re: Ten Pin Bowling

Not saying the wife is bad but even if she had the barriers up to stop the balls going in the gulley I could still beat her with my left hand (yes, I am right handed). It cost 1200 baht for three of us to play three games each plus a soft drink each. In the past I was given a coupon that gave a heal...

Ten Pin Bowling

Went bowling for the first time in a while today and was wondering if others have similar opinions to my own. As usual I took a pair of earplugs as I find the music both overly loud and annoying. Whether there are only a few people or all lanes are in use you have to shout to be heard above the musi...

So it is a restaurant with a balloon. What about the food, has anyone tried that aspect of it?

Re: Royal Mail

Not sure if it is open on Monday as it is a holiday day. Just had an EMS package arrive last week which showed on the tracking that there was a problem with the address but when we went in it was being prepared for being sent out and had not been the previous day. Suspect this is a delaying tactic o...

Re: Movies at Hua Hin Cinema

Got taken to see Pee Mak yesterday. My Thai is not too bad and as it caters to local tastes chances were it would be easy to follow (I always say the average lakorn on channel 7 makes Eastenders a difficult story to follow). I saw one other farang there and thought that at least I would not be the o...

Re: ATM fees increased to 180 baht?

Will look into that Pleng. Transferring money usually means taking a hit somewhere be it exchange rate or charges. Stopped paying all charges at the UK end a long time ago as the Thai banks always take a slice. Time for some research instead of wasting money on ebay.

Re: ATM fees increased to 180 baht?

Since I first spotted this thread I have used various ATM's, Kasikorn, Krungsri, Krung Thai for sure and some others. In all cases I was only charged 150 baht. Money originated from the same UK Natwest account. Never encountered the 180 baht charge mentioned. Once I am fully organised I will just us...
