Re: Is it true that expats can't have true Thai friends

The simple answer seems to be it is not possible. I posted a similar question about a year ago. The responses were thoughtful, most had not even considered the guestion before but no one had a friend in the pop round for beer way.

Re: Death penalty for corrupt politicians mulled

Re: Police presence beefed up as crime wave overwhelms Hua Hin

Oh, very clever! An ex workmate in the UK saw this and on top of the other publicity for the town recently has decided that it sounds like a "wild west town" and has scrubbed it off his first ever tour of the country.

Re: Zampone - how to eat?

Bought this a while ago. Tried it "raw", warmed in stock, fried and microwaved for a few seconds. I concluded that no matter how I ate it I just wasnt keen on it. I pride myself on trying new foods but the one thing I cannot bring myself to try is those big fat frogs that look like they sh...

Re: So... I'm Moving Back to England

I can hardly believe your post! It encapsulates exactly the reason why, after 11 years, we are leaving Thailand in Jan. It is often said that Thais dont want us here and I no longer want to live where it is made clear on a daily basis that we are not welcome. One of the saddest things is that I have...

Re: Tourist SIM lets government track every move

I have owned a house here for 11 years and lived here full time for almost half that time but measures like this and the general hostility towards non Thai tax payers has finally worn us down and this afternoon, with great sadness, put our house up for sale.

They do. You can get big bags of puffed rice from the day market. Enter the top half of the market from the road that splits it in 2 and there is a stall on both sides about 10 m in

I'm not asking for world peace nor that all whales should be allowed to live a long and happy life while being given a huge box of krill every crimbo. All I am asking is for some advice to help satisfy a craving that has been building up for 3 months now.I really, really want a bowl of sugar puffs! ...

Re: New 6 pin chipped ATM cards at Thai banks

Having read all the above posts, and given my card expires in Jan, I decided to be proactive and went to the main BKK bank branch to ask for a new style card. The lady could not understand why I would want to change my card when my present one works fine and had a blank expression when I explained t...
