Philip told me his recipes are his secret and he won't divulge to anyone...more's the pity, as you say, he's away an awful lot during the year.

Hi John, although no expert on Thai/farang relationships, I have dated "several" (well quite a lot actually) Thai ladies, some of dubious employment i.e. from the Soi, and also 2 who had regular jobs. "also she was always trying to pay for some things, even when I insisted I would pay...

Thai Bank Account

ianjames: I gave the Condochain as my address as I was staying there at the time, there were no problems; mack: I've sent money to my partner's bank account in HH (a different bank) from the UK and it does take 2/3 days, but you can send it via Western Union quicker, but it costs a bit more. It all ...

Thai Bank Account

Hi Both, I opened a bank account just before I left HH last May. I used the Bangkok Bank on Phetchkasem Road, mainly because friends of mine use it and recommended it. All I had to do was show my passport, pay some money in (I paid 1000 baht) and that was that. I also got an ATM card, (that cost 100...

I spent Songkhran this year in CM....and it was the nuts...the badgers-nadgers etc etc. It was one whole week of mayhem and partying, always soaking wet, which made up for the lack of sea, and a thoroughly enjoyable experience for my first Songkhran in Thailand (I know the old hands amongst you prob...

Hi Newboy, I recently returned from HH and stayed in Condochain for 6.5 months. It was like a down market Travel Lodge (in the UK), but I found it perfectly adequate for my needs. The room I had was owned by themselves, no frills; furnished, 2 single beds, bath/shower/toilet, fridge, tv (no satellit...

Horse Manure

I'm with you on this one Heebio. I recently returned from HH in May after spending 6 months there and quite a lot of that time on the beach, and agree with you that the horsemen, "Volunteer Police", cleaned-up after their mounts. Also the people I saw "galloping along on horseback&quo...

Accomodation

Hi Roppongi, I'm sure we're not ignoring you intentionally!!! I stayed in Condochain on Phetkasem Rd for 6 months until May this year and found it adequate. Just past the Marriott on the same side of the road, it has security, a pool and is about 150 mtrs from the beach. There are rooms with a sea v...

It might be advisable to mention that the Celtic Bar is slap bang in the middle of Soi Bintabaht, the girly bar area of Hua Hin as I note you're bringing your wife....but that's not to say she won't enjoy herself too!!

Bang on Pete!!! As one who has just spent 6+ months in the LOS and loved every second of it, your comments are refreshing in that's exactly how I view the beautiful ladies of Thailand but found it hard to put into words. We're often assailed with versions from "people" who should know bett...

Hi, this is probably a bit late, but I can recommend an American friend of mine called Mark Baldwin, phone no. 051832015. He lives in HH, speaks Thai and owns a car, and is always looking to earn a buck or two.

Give him my regards if you get to speak to him (Tony)
