Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

Maybe I am missing something regarding retirees living off pension income. Are not all pensions taxed at source ? They certainly appear to be in the U.K. The Inland Revenue issue a statement each year to all tax payers of gross income along with the tax deducted. Would it not simply be a case of pri...

Re: Glasgow Rangers Supporters

Not at all, Tony and Jim are hospitable to everyone and of course that would not change. However I suspect the ambiance of the bar may change.

Re: Glasgow Rangers Supporters

I must admit this is disappointing news, I occasionally frequent the Connection Cafe, which is a very hospitable establishment, Tony and Jim the proprietors are two excellent hosts. I only hope is that this does not become an pub bedecked with Rangers football colours.

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

I have always used the ‘Sales Agreement’ document that was issued when I bought a Condo. It is written in Thai language with name(s) of the purchasers also written in Thai. It also has an official red inked stamp on it. You can use google translator to check your name on the document.

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19

I had the same three options. I emailed MedPark yesterday to confirm that AZ was the vaccine being provided. They replied promptly this morning confirming that AZ would be used and that a second vaccination would be scheduled 12 weeks later. They also indicated that the hospital car park would be av...

Re: Vaccines - Covid 19

Looks like there maybe some movement regarding BCCT avenue, which seems to indicate that AZ will be the vaccine given, although it would require travel to Bangkok. Just received the following email from them ; “ We have now received the approval for the vaccination from the Department of Disease Con...

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates

Thanks Kraka’s Dad ... I looked on Kayak as you suggested and indeed there appears to be some KLM flights. Interestingly the search also brought up some Emirates flights including the flight that I had cancelled. The Emirates website still appears to accept bookings. The big problem now is credibili...

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates

Thanks Dannie Boy ... it looks like EVA have one flight a week on a Sunday. I’m not sure how all the stranded U.K. citizens in Thailand are going fit in 4 flights before September 26.

Re: Flying into Thailand, latest updates

Are there any Airlines operating flights from Bangkok to the U.K. ? My latest attempt to fly out on 16th September with Emirates has been cancelled. They say they are now only accepting bookings from late October. I understand some people have returned to the U.K., but I don’t know by which airline,...

Re: Bars closed/Now reopening?

I read on Facebook that Bar 80 at the Phetkasem Road end has reopened. It is a Bar/restaurant/hotel. I have yet to visit myself, but they have posted on Facebook that they are now open.

Trying to find a 'nice' bar

Trying to find a 'nice' bar. I know that this one of these 'what is the meaning of life' type of question, and everyone has differing tastes, as to what constitutes as nice bar. In the UK, in times past, there was the 'local', where you could drop in on your own and you would more often than not see...

Re: Another alcohol clampdown

Maybe I am missing something here.
The Bangkok Post reports that the ban on alcohol sales relates to areas within 300 metres radius of 'higher educational institutions'.
Are there any Universtities or technical colleges near the centre of Hua Hin ?

Re: What do you Like/Dislike most About Your Stay in Thailand?

I think that Ratsima has summed things up rather well. It is always very easy to complain and be critical, and we all like to do it from time to time. But when all that you ever focus on is the negative, I think that your view becomes distorted. I have worked with and known quite a few 'the glass is...

Re: why do you rarely see sailing boats on the sea in Hua Hi

I have recently started to sail with a small sailing dinghy ( topper) off the the beach opposite soi 94 ( bus station) . I have been sailing for many years in UK, but in large keel boats, I have missed my sailing when Hua Hin, so I brought a small sailing dinghy over here, to get my "fix"....
