My wife and sister in law went shopping at the new Makro yesterday
and skyped me to tell me about it. They said it was like Costco but with more food
and less furniture and hard goods.
I think anyone can shop there...not just for retailers

good builders in Hua Hin
Unfortunately finding good builders in Thailand is a crap shoot. There are no licensing laws regarding builders. Anyone can put out a sign and claim to be a builder. My brother in law and sister in law just finished having their dream home built in Hua Hin. It took almost 2 years to complete, the bu...

design your own house
I notice some folks are looking to design their own house in Hua Hin
Google's free house design program called
Sketchup
http://sketchup.google.com/
It's not hard to learn and you can even import furniture, appliances etc. into the design.
And ...it's FREE

Health care plans
Why not just self insure. Put aside the money you would normally spend on medical premiums and use it to pay bills as the come. Thailand isn't like the west...where you can't afford not to have insurance. The cost of a medical procedure in Thailand can sometimes be 1/10 the price you'd pay in the we...

Totally understand Perhaps if people are interested they can email me privately for the web link Although I would hardly classify their new website and forum as a "competitive forum". They've only got about 7 posters, have no advertising and deal with such interesting subjects as water rat...

Still nothing like learning over here from a local. I just came back from Hua Hin. Along one of the streets near the night market I passed by a shop with a sign out front advertising Thai cooking classes. You spend the day and they take you to a thai market to shop and then back to the place where ...

Thai cooking has changed
You may be right. I won’t try to defend my opinion which is based on anecdotal evidence only. I recall when I lived in Thailand back in the late 1960’s , the city was 1/3 the size. The restaurants were all mom and pop operations , many of them specialized in dishes that they were famous for thro...

Best Thai food is in Los Angeles
Among the Thais living in the US the word is that if you want to taste authentic Thai food you have to go to places like Los Angeles where Thai immigrants established restaurants 30-40 years ago and stuck to the traditional recipes. In my opinion Present day Thais have changed a lot of the tradition...

Nursing homes for elderly in Hua Hin
Hi Bill
I'm interested in finding out more about the golf course/retirement community you mentioned south of Hua Hin. Any idea what the name of it is? Is it actually going up or are they just in the planning stage.
