A Man Was Ordered to Build a Fence to Hide His Boat. He Asked an Artist to Paint the Boat on the Fence There’s a new high water mark for passive aggressiveness in the visual arts—and the pun is intended. When the town of Seaside, California ordered homeowner Etienne Constable to build a fence to con...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

^As far as Thailand goes, I think that access to cheap EVs from China combined with abundant solar resources will be the main driver of change. There is a point in the not too distant future when the realisation will come that drilling stuff out of a desert, shipping it over 8,000 km and trashing th...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

How does that work for the millions of people who live in apartments and condos without a socket in each parking bay and being charged double for their power? I live in an apartment like that in Luxembourg so I don't have a car, an ebike is more practical. In Thailand, you can buy electric motorcyc...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

If EVs take off in Thailand and become the norm as y'all hope for, how will the charging stations cope? During busy times and long weekends (when most Thais hit the roads), gas stations are rammed with vehicles (98% ICE), if even a quarter of them were EVs, the waiting times to get a charging space...

Re: Flights to/from Hua Hin Airport & other domestic locations

^The other major problem is that Suvarnabhumi is comparatively near. It's hard to be successful with an airport that's only a three hour drive away from a large established one.

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

But, the real question I guess is how does this "strangle innovation" when allowing a Chinese Invasion takes all? To be honest, when I see how many western car companies are behaving, I get the impression that they've actually already given up and instead of trying to compete, they're jus...

The U.S. will quadruple tariffs on EV imports all the way to 100% as the Biden administration looks to prevent a “China shock” like the early 2000s That might benefit US car makers in the short term but it could be the end of them after that as it will just serve to strangle innovation and leave th...

In the EV future, Thailand, the ‘Detroit of Asia,’ could be a key China hedge for automakers https://www.cnbc.com/2024/05/12/with-evs-the-detroit-of-asia-wants-to-be-china-hedge-for-automakers.html “Thailand is a possible path to China-like auto parts costs, allowing low-cost production,” says Craig...
