Re: Retirement Visa
Just got a news email from Thai Visa forum. Although covers Chiang Mai immigration and does not address my issue directly thought it worth sharing as clarifies the latest position on accompanying spouse extension: "The dependents of those entering the country on a non-OA (retirement) or non-IA ...

Re: Retirement Visa
Thanks. In the UK to get an 'O-A' visa to go down the savings route you either have to have the equivalent of 800,000 baht in a UK bank account or 800,000 in a Thai bank account in your sole name. All I have to do for my wife's 'O' visa in the UK is to show the Embassy our marriage certificate. Apar...

Re: Retirement Visa
I wonder why I am going for 'O-A' too. This was based on advice I was given but seems to be incorrect. I have already paid for a medical certificate, police certificate and for these and other documents to be certified by a public notary in the UK and have the equivalent of 800,000 Thai baht in a UK...

Re: Retirement Visa
Thanks hhfarang. That is very useful for a visa extension but I do not think it covers my situation of getting the 'O-A' visa for me and the 'O' visa for my wife first time round ....

Re: Retirement Visa
Chaspul I appreciate it is now a couple of months since you commented (very helpfully) on my visa queries and when you mentioned the link in your post states: (sorry but as a newbie I cannot post your URL!) "The link states that if multi entry, the "O" which your wife qualifies for, c...

Re: Retirement Visa
chaspul and lomuamart Just one further thought..... if applying for an O-A visa in the UK I have to get a number of documents certified by the Public Notary before submitting to the Embassy. No problem with this apart from our marraige certificate. As we were married in Australia the Public Notary h...

Re: How do you get your pensions transferred to Thailand?
Western Union might be worth looking at. Competitive exchange rates and if you make payment by a bank transfer there is no transfer fee.

Re: Retirement Visa
Not sure if the non-immigrant "O" visa is an option from the UK (anymore) for 50 to 64 year old retirees as the Embassy web site states: Category "O" To visit Thai spouse, children, parents, voluntary job, Retirement (with State Pension) I would post the url but as a newbie it wo...

Re: Retirement Visa
Thanks for advising. I have checked the London Embassy web site too and seems going down the O-A route could be a good option as: 8. In case wishing to be accompanied by spouse, the marriage certificate will be attached. But spouse will be granted Non-Immigrant “O” instead of “O-A”(Long Stay) What i...

Thanks for your response.
I thought they had put an age 65 restriction on the issue of O-A visa based on retirement in the UK now?
