Re: Hua Hin Tuk Tuk minimum prices

Just an update on the Tuk Tuk/Taxi price sign at Market Village. A couple of weeks ago the wife and I were there and decided to try catching a tuk tuk back to Takiab at lunchtime. Went to two different drivers and pointed to the price on the sign that refers to Blue Wave at Takiab (150 baht) which i...

Re: Kanchanaburi border (Phu Nam Ron) for visa runs

Thanks for the responses guys. Reading all of that, I guess this border crossing is definitely out. And that would be great Sabai Sabai if you could PM me with further info. I did do a search on the Thai Visa forum before posting my question here, but there was nothing specific with regards to this ...

Re: Kanchanaburi border (Phu Nam Ron) for visa runs

There seems to be some confusion on this thread on what is available at this border crossing and what is not. The last post was mid December so I guess I'm just after some clarification on what the current status is with regarding this crossing. My situation is that my 21yr old son (Australian passp...

Re: Outlook for Thailand

Not sure what the outlook is for Thailand as I'm finding it very difficult to get a good read on the whole set up here. Granted we've only lived here for a year and don't really understand the language, but I do try to keep up with the local news and events when I can. Not sure if it is all just los...

Re: Clean Hua Hin's Beaches Movement

You are right TicTac, there is some oil issues still on the beaches. Today we concentrated on the area south of the most southern restaurant on Takiab, and down past the golf course creek for another 200 metres or so. Plenty of oily bits of plastic at the high tide mark. Mind you, no where near as b...

Re: Clean Hua Hin's Beaches Movement

This topic caught my attention as I try to help out Trash Hero HH every Thursday around Takiab when I am in town. There is one very committed Thai girl (Noo) and usually just me and a couple of other farangs helping out. We generally do the southern side of Monkey Mountain, south of the last restaur...

I took some photos for you Juice81 but I can't seem to attach them to the post. Not sure what's going on there as I've done it before. Anyways, if you would like them, just send me a private message with your email address and I'll get them to you that way. Cheers.

Re: Birthday Cards

I did find a normal type birthday card in a small supermarket in town. Just opposite the main Police Station and about a 100m or so towards the beach side. No idea what it is called but the cards are on the left as soon as you walk in. Don't expect a huge selection though. Wife buys her off some han...

Re: Oil Slick puts Hua Hin Beach at it's dirtiest ever ?

aldo5, I was in the water today up to my knees at the bottom of the standing buddha helping Trash Hero HH crew clean up. There is still plenty of oily sludge in the water and seeping out of the sand. I wouldn't be swimming for a while yet. Not sure what sort of health problems this stuff could cause...

Re: Ran into a Youtube celebrity at Market Village today.

I'll keep this thread going. I too ran into JC in Cha Am during the kite festival a few months back. I had watched all of his videos before heading to HH, which I might add, were very beneficial. So I thought I'd politely go up and thank him for all his efforts. This was in a bar and he was sitting ...

Re: Retired with wife under 50 - what visa for wife?

Just want to clarify something else if I may. My wife has returned to Oz today and will be applying for a Non-Immigrant O Visa so she can return to Thailand and be with me now that her Tourist Visa has expired. As I am on an Extension based on Retirement already, she will hopefully convert that Non-...

Re: New Development Takiab South

I can take photos if you want but there really isn't much to see just yet other than a fairly long rock wall basically going directly out to sea on the southern side of where the fishing boats enter their port on the southern side of Monkey Mountain. Doesn't really change the landscape much, just a ...

Re: Oil Slick puts Hua Hin Beach at it's dirtiest ever ?

I have been on Takiab for a the last few hours. When we arrived there were plenty of volunteers cleaning the beach up the hard way, with rakes and hoes. Stinking hot and humid but they have done a great job. There was a couple of municipality garbage trucks in support. No graders or anything like th...

Re: Hua Hin Beach at it's dirtiest ever ?

Hey SydneyGuy, don't waste your time as Takiab beach is filthy also with the oily sludge polluting the joint. I walked from the ferry terminal construction as far as the last vendor south and I gave up due to it actually getting worse the further south I went. Definitely an oil based pollutant that ...
