Re: Thai Hotels Association concerned over popularity of Airbnb
It's not only hotels that are concerned. A couple of condos in Khao Takiab including my own are having to face the issue. Our management has informed apartment owners that under the Hotel Act B.E. 2547 (2004) Section 15. No person shall operate hotel business unless he has obtained a licence issued ...

Re: Smoking ban on Hua Hin beach, jail time for offenders
While they're at it, please ban horse manure thoughtfully left on the beach in plastic bags by the jockeys; and dog poo sometimes disguised with a sprinkling of sand by Thai but more often foreign owners. Khao Takiab beach is a dog toilet where scooping the poop seems to be unheard of.

Re: Sheraton Hua Hin - Holiday from Hell
As a friend in Delhi says "Hua Hin is a wedding destination". He's travelled to several in Hua Hin over the years. It's a boon for the large hotels like the Sheraton who have very low occupancy at this time of year. The Hyatt, just up the beach from me has regular Indian weddings too. They...

It was the same yesterday (Sunday) on Takiab beach. Fisherman casting their nets just a few feet from the shore caught plenty of fish, big and small.

Re: How has the terrorism of 2016 affected tourism in HH?
The owner of Dream Cones, my favourite downtown ice cream parlour, says his business has suffered since the Hua Hin bombings in August 2016. Since then the number of European and Australian customers has dropped, while the number of Chinese visiting Hua Hin, not known as an ice cream eating people, ...

Disposal of IT waste
Is there anywhere in Hua Hin where IT waste and especially used batteries can be disposed of, in the hope that they will be recycled?

Re: Transport, Bangkok to Hua Hin
I think there is a bus service from Suvarnabhumi airport to Khaosan Road. It departs from Door 8, the same as the bus to Hua Hin.

Re: Hua Hin hotels push airport redo
Would it be a success? A few years ago Malaysia's Berjaya Air had 3 flights weekly between Kuala Lumpur and Hua Hin, marketed primarily to golfers. After a year or two the service ceased. Before that, more than 10 years ago, Singapore's Silk Air had a test flight from Singapore to Hua Hin. But nothi...

Re: Flight to Thailand bargains
A couple of weeks ago I paid the equivalent of THB25,500 for an economy class return ticket on TG from Kuala Lumpur to London Heathrow departing January 8th with 14 day stops both ways in Bangkok. I fly this route a few times each year but usually pay THB40,000 upwards. The very weak ringgit (droppe...

Mobile phone for the elderly
An elderly friend is being upgraded from 2G to 3G by her service provider so must say goodbye to her faithful 2G Nokia which needs recharging just twice a month, gets dropped often and still works after 5 years of use. She needs an easy to see keyboard and screen but does not require Internet, just ...

Re: Transferring visa to new passport
I gave the airport immigration both old and new passport. I doubt they would transfer the visa even if you asked. Best is to contact quickly the immigration office in Hua Hin, as I did. 30 minutes and the transfer was done.
