I'd just like to pick up on Korks reply to the Sapain etc. You will also find the use of sara o ( as in orange.) An n with an m would be pronounced as nom. (No visible vowel) Technically the sara a ( as in apple) would only be used when the word consisted of words made up with three or more consonan...

I thought that the first seven posts were spot on and spoke truthfully about the situation Thailand is facing or has faced for a long time. The truth is, a lot of rich Chinese run this country and the Thais' can't see it. Xenophobia spread by the "Chinese Thais'" rules! :D Rant over. Onlyme.

Boxcar is spot on. You have to understand Thai transliteration to be able to read Thai. They have their quirky spellings, just the same as we do in the English language. The only difference being that, if you know the "workings" of the Thai language. You should always be able to pronounce ...

I took my friend to see an ENT specialist at Petcherat hospital in Petchaburi about 8 months ago. He had been suffering with severe throat problems for a couple of months. The "specialist" thought there was a hair lodged in his throat (dread to think what she thought he'd been up to?) This...

Thailand.

When I first visited Thailand in 1992. To say that I thought I'd visited a new planet would have been an understatement. After that I was hooked, visiting twice a year until I decided to retire here at the young age of 47 in 2002. 1st August 2002 landing at Don Muang and realised that I couldn't spe...
