Re: Napping
But I know many people are unable to snooze for only 20-30 minutes, they go off deeply and find it hard to wake and to function properly afterwards. So yes, it's 'horses for courses'. I'm one of those and usually feel worse if I've slept during the day (unless a hangover is involved)! Yep I'm one o...

Re: Royal pardon reduces Thaksin’s jail term to one year
As a billionaire I would still rather be holed up in California, Paris, Milan (definitely not London) than a year in ANY hospital then released into Thailand. There's even more to this than meets the eye I reckon

Re: Thai household debt deeper than ever
I wonder how much of this household debt is legitimate or loan shark? Is either even measured? Go down any street and you will see business cards lying in the street, especially in the mornings before local businesses have swept them up. If you've ever wondered what they are, they all contain a numb...

Re: Thai household debt deeper than ever
Thats not how it works, interest rate rises are to bring inflation under control which will do far more to raise people levels of debt. Look at the mess the UK is in because the Bank of England didn't raise them quickly enough. Wrong, its exactly how it works. When interest rates go up, banks incre...

I always tip via the windscreen clean, but for filling up no not usually.
I was reading about a tips article today as it happens, whilst in the US they will chase you down the street if you don't tip, in many parts of Japan they find it insulting!

Re: Thailand tourism situation
The absence of Chinese tourists affects many Countries, including the UK. A couple of weeks back, The Times ran an article about it (no link, sorry). That has to be a good thing right? No more spitting in the street or eating like they're the only ones in the restaurants! The markets are pricing in...

Re: Major Economic Issues For Thailand
Years ago I tried to enquire as to where all the repossessions end up - as in any country I was met with several brick walls, people not wanting others to enjoy the benefits I guess. What was interesting was we went to all the main banks and they all told us they don't do car loans and only knew of ...

Re: Thailand general election fundamentally flawed: Human Rights Watch
This article from last week goes someway to explaining the present situation: https://www.eastasiaforum.org/2023/07/30/thailands-emerging-new-political-alignment/ Thank you Steve that was a good read but Thailand has missed a golden opportunity for a new beginning, so sad. It's only delayed - there...

Re: Waterworks down below
I see that the window to his clinic has “AndroUrology” in bold letters, plus mention of “Prostate” and “Hormone Replacement Therapy” and a few other things. We did not get into that topic, as my Testosterone level was normal. First time I’ve seen any mention of TRT in Hua Hin. In demand in Pattaya,...

Lets make everyone's debts a bit bigger shall we ... Thailand set to hike key interest rate to 9-year high The Bank of Thailand (BoT) is poised to deliver another rate increase in line with an unwavering post-pandemic tightening strategy despite rapid disinflation and political gridlock. The centra...

Re: Biopsy due to possible skin cancer on face
Don't wish to be rude but why would you go to a forum rather than just phone the hospital/clinic/doctor ? Because whilst not expressly stating it he's obviously looking for general feedback/advice/assurances from other members Sent from my M2007J20CG using Tapatalk Allow me to ask if there is anyon...

Re: Booster Vaccines - Covid 19
Back on subject, unless you're medically vulnerable I think the case for constant booster vaccines is diminishing. I had the first two and then one booster, all Moderna. I got Covid for the first time long after the booster and well after everyone was telling me another was overdue, but I had absolu...

Re: Booster Vaccines - Covid 19
I must be living in a different Hua Hin. Regarding PCR tests, my daughter who flies to the US a couple of times a year has never had a problem. Of course PCR tests do take a bit longer so you have to plan for that. Since they've been dropped and replaced with an ATK test it's that much easier. Walk...
