Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

Thanks BB, good to have a first-hand experience. • A bank statement showing all foreign income for 2024 I presume this means a Thai bank statement proving provenance of the overseas income brought into Thailand, like the statements a Thai bank issues for yearly visa purposes to show that funds have ...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

Anything transferred to Thailand after 1/1/24 is assessable. Unless it is exempt? OK. But best to have the records available if ever audited. Yes it's best to keep your records, either physical or files on your computer. As Thailand is signatory to the world agreement where authorities can share re...

Hua Hin nightlife crackdown

I believe bars are not allowed to play music after 1am in Hua Hin. A friend who owns a bar in Wonderland was visited by the police at about 1:05pm as he was closing everything down. He had to go to the police station where they told him he had to pay a fine of 50,0000 baht or spend 5 days in a cell...

Re: Fitbit or similar worn health smart devices

They are relatively cheap, and last a long time. You can get an OK BP monitor and blood oxygen monitor for well under 1,000฿. I have a spreadsheet that I enter readings into remotely. You could most likely waste a lot of money that saves you the bother of entering manually into a spreadsheet, but f...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

The flaw in that argument is they did not get wealthy by spending their money. So if they are excluded from tax, what is the benefit? Well not all wealthy people are misers, far from it. I lived 12 years in Dubai, I saw expats spending insane amounts. They will spend their money in Thailand on lavi...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

There aren't many countries which don't try to attract wealthy immigrants. And we're discussing this even before we know how or if the tax laws will actually affect expats on lower income.

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

That's 21minutes I'll never recover! Cliched and predictable. As I said, the series shouldn't be judged by the first one or even two episodes. It's more than that. Not comedy for the ages but there are nuggets in there, mostly in the form of relationships between the characters. Repeating: what I e...

Re: The books and reading thread

I find reading a book then watching an unfaithful TV adaptation of it is often the wrong way around. I'm usually happier when I watch something on TV I enjoy and then read the book(s). If I ever saw there was a TV adaptation of Danielewski's House of Leaves I'd run for the hills. It's metafiction of...

Re: Fitbit or similar worn health smart devices

In any event, I'm sorry and now wish I could delete my post. Your post was very much on topic and was helpful, it's unfortunate that it resulted in posts unrelated to smart watches, only to people's daily exercise amounts and wenshidi remarked on it, not your fault! Back to topic, I understand that...

Does anybody know if there is an English speaking leather chair upholsterer out there, please? Willing to collect, too.
In a similar vein I have a very large sofa which needs respringing at one end (my favourite end, obvs). Collection would be much appreciated too.

404cameljockey, it is called natural thread drift. All of the posts are related to Fitbit or similar worn health smart devices. The alternative is to flood the Forum with threads about every element of Fitbit or similar worn health smart devices, which I am sure you would find even more irratating....

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading

The US series English Teacher is quite funny, tackling wokeness in the school and how tricky it is to deal with. Maybe a 7/10 but easy to dip in and out of when you have a little time to kill. It will probably offend people who are anti-gay though. I just want to bump English Teacher - having finis...

Re: Durian Futures

I wonder if Durian prices will drop significantly this year? I read that imported chery sales performed very badly in the PRC CNY this year due to the continuing decline in the economy. Will the same lack of demand for pricey Thai durian also impact the domestic price? It seems that many have alrea...
