Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

That may be the cost in China but I’m certain it will be more expensive elsewhere especially in Europe - this thread isn’t exclusive to Thailand. But even allowing for a not too expensive purchase price, I’m fairly certain that the cost of a fast charge will be at least or more than petrol - a lot ...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread

I realise that fast charging EV’s will be able to slow charge as well, but you’re going to be paying a premium to buy such a car in the first place, so the only benefit will be to use a rapid charger, which will be relatively rare for quite some time as well as relatively expensive, especially in t...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

Does the income to the Thai bank acc. have to be min 65k per month in 12 transfers, one each month, or are fewer and larger transfers equalling min 65k per month accepted by Imm when renewing Non-Imm O visas? YNWA According to everything I've ever read, it has to be 12 separate monthly payments, ea...

JAS gets rights to the English Premier League

So, apparently True Visions had lost the rights to cover the EPL and a company called JAS now has the rights. At a board meeting on November 11, 2024, JAS approved the acquisition, securing exclusive broadcasting rights for six seasons, beginning with the 2025-2026 Premier League season. The rights ...

The MSN weather app says it's going to continue raining like this for at least the next three hours.

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand

Absolute downpour in Soi 106 and probably the most ⚡ I've seen in such a short period of time, since I moved here (which is ten years ago now).

Re: Gourmet Market, soon Big C Hua Hin Marché @ BluPort

I've been to the new Big C Marché a few more times now and I'm liking it more and more. Even though it's not finished yet (so will obviously get better as they expand into the new areas and the range of items increases) I've already noticed several things they have that are different, better and/or ...

Re: Traffic jams on Rama II Road blamed for Hua Hin's decline

This is so bad now that I am considering using the alternative route via Nakhom Pathom. Has anyone also thought about it or even used that route? With the heavy traffic sometimes heading towards the Praew Pradang junction from Samut Sakhon I wonder on the time difference. I've been thinking the sam...

Re: BBC iPlayer

As Pete mentioned above, the BBC seem to have its head buried in the sand saying it’s a rights issue - it may well be, but what’s stopping them changing the rights issues? I’m sure there would be hundreds of thousands if not more willing to pay the license fee and watch all the available programmes...

Re: Mobile SIM Registration Name Must Match Mobile Banking Name

Yes, but do they have the resource to take on yet another task dictated by the Gov't? Will they sub-contract the task? They could sub-contract it out I suppose, but in any event it's only for numbers registered after January 1, 2022 and if you haven't received a request about it, there's nothing to...

Re: Mobile SIM Registration Name Must Match Mobile Banking Name

I've always been suspicious of Mobile Banking. Is this not giving a bunch of indivuals access to our personal banking detail? :? I'm not sure that it does. As I read it, this requires your bank to ensure that the name registered to the mobile number you use for mobile banking, matches the name on y...

Re: Why Thais get triggered when westerners say “Ni Hao” to them?

While the Thai person has completely overreacted, it's a bit naff of the Russians to have used "Ni Hao" to a Thai. It would be like going up to an English person in the middle of the English countryside and saying, "Guten Tag" or "Buongiorno," to them.

Re: The Wine Thread

I like my wines and especially Cotes du Rhône... CJ has them on the shelve at 325 thb, I bought the lot and waiting for them to restock. My wife enjoys Charles Strong a cheap blend at 329? and Haut Lafon, 1,5 ltr. at 800 I believe...Lotus, Big C and Makro have them.. The Haut Lafon is not bad at al...
