Re: A trip to Yunnan, China.
Dali Day 1 I left Kunming at around 11.00 for the two hour trip to Dali by train. Lots of tunnels there as we we entering a mountainous area. I took a bus from the railway station to the Ancient City area. This took about 40 minutes and cost RMB 3 (THB 15). I got off on the eastern side of the area...

Re: A trip to Yunnan, China.
Kunming I woke up to a cold morning, it was around +5 in Guangzhou had some breakfast and left the hotel. Getting to Guangzhou’s airport took quite a long time from the downtown area. It’s the same, when you come from the south to the Guangzhou South railway station, everything is far away. So I le...

Re: A trip to Yunnan, China.
Part 2 Guangzhou 2 On my way to Yunnan, I arrived earlier to Guangzhou than the previous time I was talking about. This was in the afternoon and so I had time to visit couple of more places. The first one was Chen Family Academy. I had visited this the first time during my university time in Guangzh...

More to come, sure. Shamian was never crowded, the Guangzhou metro is crowded all the time but I'm not going to talk much about that.

A trip to Yunnan, China.
I had my first winter vacation while working in Macau in the late December of 2023 and decided to go to Yunnan. During my first trip to China in the spring of 1986 I had a plan to visit Kunming but in those days, it was so difficult and slow to purchase train tickets that I had to abandon the plan. ...

Re: Macau
In Finland it is common to have a pre-Christmas party in work places so we had one here as well. We went to a place called Sky 21. It gets its name because it's located on the 21st floor of the building. Nice place and a nice view. In Macau standards it wasn't too expensive; I had four beers and we ...

Re: Macau
So where is the immigration, on either side of those bridges? There are 3 or 4. I'm not sure where the buses and cars coming from Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai bridge cross the border. One is a short ferry trip up the river you see in the photo. Two that you can walk through. The Portas de Cerco - Gongbei...

Re: Macau
My brother and sister-in-law were here so I took them for a sigh-seeing tour. First we went to the A-Ma -temple, which was built sometimes in the 15th century. When the Portuguese arrived early in the 16th century, according to the legend, they arrived in front of this area with their ships. When th...

Re: Photo Trip Report: Japan in a Van
So many things seem to be cheaper than in Thailand but I assume the living costs; rent, electricity, water etc. must be more expensive with the limited space they have. Do you have any idea how much the rentals are, for example for one bedroom apartment in the cities you visited?

Re: Photo Trip Report: Japan in a Van
I remembered that there was a big Buddha Statue in Nara park. Maybe I just can't remember correctly. I was there in the spring of 1988.
