Re: New House without a pool?

There are some houses without pools, it's a matter of choice. A friend of mine is considering selling her house which does not have a pool and wonders whether it was a mistake not to have a pool. However, there are many people like you who don't really want one. She has the benefit of the communal p...

Re: Best place for high tea in Hua Hin?

The Beach restaurant at Anantalisa in K. Takiab had a good deal for afternoon tea, 580+ for 2 I think. Fabulous food and lovely service and a super setting. Not sure about size of urinals though :-)

Re: Eim Yim Restaurant

We have tried Eim Yim twice and I would say it is pretty unremarkable. We had beef salad and the beef was VERY chewy, the yellow curry and som tam were ok but nothing special. But the beer was cold and the staff were welcoming.

Re: Fish and Chips

Had fish and chips tonight at May's Kitchen. Near Marwin Pool Villas on the road off Pala u Road towards the new immigration building. It is in the row of shophouses before the one next to Marwin Villas. Mushy peas, nice crispy batter and good fish. The owner is from Manchester so you could have tra...

Re: Vehicle Advice

Thanks so much for all advice, really useful. Interesting info about the 2 versus 4 wheel drive, I hadn't really considered that the rear wheel drive would not always be enough. The mountain bike info is really useful too. Are there any vehicles you have tried that you think are especially bad for r...

Re: Vehicle Advice

Thanks Gregjam, really appreciate your advice. If we get a truck we would probably go with a double cab so the mountain bike issue may not be solved by the sound of it.

Vehicle Advice

Happy New Year! We are agonising over vehicle choices, - more which type as opposed to yes or no as we live out of town. Now we are in HH permanently and want to venture further than a moped can safely take us I thought I would ask for feedback from any vehicle owners willing to share what they feel...

Re: Hand Push Lawn Mower

I have seen petrol and electric mowers in HomePro, Global House and Thai Wasadu recently. Or do you literally just mean the non (except muscle) powered push mowers? In which case I am not sure. Happy New Year!

Re: Need a longer term car rental

Most rental places would charge 800+ baht per day. So 30 days = 24,000 with a long term discount perhaps 20,000. I don't know of anywhere but if you can find a local place with older cars you may be lucky to get a cheaper price. Best of luck.

Re: Retirement extension 800k - Where?

Thanks so much for your reply everyone. My account is with Kasikorn Big Boy so it may be a possibility but sounds as though worst case is a trip to Bangkok. I wish we could Dannie Boy but we have been told a definite no unless we were Singaporean or Singapore Permanent Residents (neither of which ap...

Retirement extension 800k - Where?

I have had a search through information but can't find an answer, I hope I am not repeating the same questions for the millionth time - apologies in advance if there is an answer already. I hope that someone may be able to clarify a couple of questions for me. I intend to move permanently to HH at t...

So shocked and saddened to hear this, Steve was a smashing bloke. Thinking of Bom and his kids at such a sad time.
