Re: Addition to existing house
The biggest restriction is finding a builder that can build in a level and straight line [emoji23]BUSHWHACKER wrote:I want to remove roof, add a floor & two rooms and then rebuild roof.

Farang buying a house with a Thai lady
Sorry to hear about that. I guess this is a safer option in terms of security versus purchasing a house and lot under the name of your Thai wife. If we are talking about the reliability of a condo structure, it is of course best to go for a reputable condo developer in the area to avoid issues like...

Re: Farang buying a house with a Thai lady
I second the above suggestions. But getting a condo is the best (and safer) route. Otherwise, a legal advice from a lawyer will make things clearer. Good luck. Buying a condo is far from safer. Over the past 2 years values have taken a dump and while that's ok for a buyer it's definitely not good i...

Re: Farang buying a house with a Thai lady
I believe you can sell the lease, not the house, as a lessee you don't own it. Hmm, as far as I know you can build your own house, or any other building on leased land. It just needs to be set up before building. I also believe that you can do it with an existing building, but it is a bit more invo...

Re: Leaky windows
Hi alanhass Looks like your friends have a bad problem, I've had similar problems but not a serious both with Aluminium window and sliding door. The main problem with mine was there was not sufficient sealant between the frames and house structure, so try and pry open the frames and squeeze as much...

Leaky windows
Hi all Just wondering if people have trouble with windows in Thailand. The situation is this. A friend of ours just built a new home (bungalow)and on the first storm all the windows and doors literally gushed in the rain. The place was flooded. Also bugs get in even when closed through all the gaps....

Re: Farang buying a house with a Thai lady
Over exaggeration and only happens to farangs who believe they have no rights. Property bought within a marriage is split 50-50 on divorce. Wife cannot throw you out. In fact, when I divorced, the court ordered the wife out of the house although they awarded her a nominal rent for her share of the ...

Re: Farang buying a house with a Thai lady
Definitely pays to know your rights. You own 50/50 your house and should something happen you are entitled to half its that simple.
You can 100% own your own house you just can't own the land.
