Re: Tax Residency (bank requirements)

My take on this TIN is. The future is the future though this is now, if you are an expat living in Thailand and are resident here and also only send living expenses to support yourself there is no TIN required.

Just fill out the form from whichever bank asks you to fill in their form stating this.

Re: Tax Residency (bank requirements)

I have just returned from the Hua Hin Revenue office, where I had a very informative discussion and was advised the following: You only need a Thai TIN if you have a business, work in Thailand or earn a taxable income in Thailand by any other means. If you do not earn a taxable income you do not ne...

Re: Police protection racket?

After many years living here! To me this is confusing? They sign forms in your post box outside your house that they have checked, and then another post that there are many subscribers to this scheme, I have never heard of this before.

Re: House market in Hua Hin

Honestly the idea purchasing a house in Hua Hin is a bit scary with all the reports of party houses. Are there gated villages that prevent the owners from ruining their neighbors peace by renting as a party house? Can such rules be enforced or part of a legal contract? We cannot choose our neighbor...

Re: Shark Attack - Had Sai Noi

I don't think they have used Google Translate in this case. I have consulted with some of the 99% of local Thai experts who tell me the Thai text is just as vague. Maybe they were under instruction not to mention the S(hark), B(ite) words ana several other key words. Maybe they could have wa...

Do we know which snakes are venomous?

... it would be more prudent regarding sharks and sea life around Hua Hin for a English speaker to ask a local with local knowledge, who have far more knowledge on this subject, than any of us English speakers on this forum :) I very rarely ask a Thai about anything to do with wildlife, as I find t...

Re: Shark Attack - Had Sai Noi

The sign in question was a very clear warning "don't swim out more than 20 meters" in bold red and very simple to understand, as all warning signs should be short and concise.

Only slightly straying.....scooted down to Soi 80 for a couple of hours today and this was the most gentle and respectful Songkran I can remember. I haven’t missed one for around 25 years! Roads on the way into town were quiet and groups of people waved you down if you wanted to participate or left...

Re: Shark Attack - Had Sai Noi

I've now seen the warning signs on social media. They simply say, "Don't swim for over 20 Metres." No indication of direction or why there is a restriction. TIT It always amazes me that with all the English speaking foreigners here, a Thai will not ask for assistance when putting up poste...

Yes, it is strange how some is crystal clear, when close by isn't quite as, or not at all. South end of main HH beach at Buddha is consistently clear, where at Centara, almost opaque....555 Morning stroll with dog is at Ao Prachaup, as sewer for the municipality, and if clear there, then I might po...
