Re: The Thai Cultural Shock

Now this is a critical phase, and I think, the phase which sorts out the holidaymakers from the true expats. I mean, any one can come here, spend a couple of weeks, have fun, and then go home again. It takes a true fighter to come and to stay permanently. Don't you agree? What is/was the biggest ch...

Re: A pretty realistic article about Thailand retirement cost

IMO this is the best article I've read about the cost options of retiring in Thailand. Has anyone seen a sample budget. I will be coming in May to check out Hua Hin but we won't retire until January 2019. And we won't move until our home in Texas is sold. Right now my planning has a budget based on...

Re: Where did you meet your girlfriend or wife?

Hello, We all see thai-farang copuples in HH ( I am sure some members here have a Thai GF or wife). Sometimes looking at them is very obvious where they met, other times is not. Would you be so kind and share where have you met your other half? I believe replies like these for some people can be ve...

Re: Biggest Benefit to Being Expat

No Snow + No Taxes = :-) No Thai taxes doesn't mean no taxes. I will be retiring. The US will tax my money when I take it from the pension fund. So no free ride. For the first time in about 20 years we got snow in South Texas last week. Just a dusting but since I grew up in Michigan (a lot of snow ...

Re: Men and their mistresses

Lets think about the wife in her fifties who has NO interest in sex anymore. Het husband, on the other hand, is still in need of a little. Which is preferable--- for him to visit a mia noi every Tuesday evening or go trolling the bars with his friends. Why do you think women in their 50s have no in...

Mine too - and my wife's parents as well. We had excellent examples of faithfulness. We have been married 40 years which seems to be unusual these days.

Not in mine either. I married a Latino. She would destroy me. And my daughters would applaud it!

Re: Knee Replacement

I thought healthcare in the UK and Canada was free. Silly me. I had TKR in America three years ago. The average hospital charge for a total knee replacement (TKR) in the United States is $49,500. A partial knee replacement (PKR) typically costs about 10 to 20 percent less than a TKR. The main reason...

Re: Potential Retirement Location - renting in Hua Hin

I want to thank everyone. I will try to remember to contact Matador when I am in town next May but no promises. Memory isn't what it used to be. But I will check out the area while there. Harry - thank you. Your initial response was excellent. Now I just need to research about bringing in a dog with...

Are there maps for other Soi? For Massage Parlours (color coded so I know which ones to avoid when I take my wife and daughter out for a spa day)?

Potential Retirement Location - renting in Hua Hin

I have been searching on-line with very limited success. I will be in Hua Hin next May for about three weeks. My wife and two of my daughters will accompany me. I will be staying at a Condo while there. I currently expect to retire in January of 2019. After which I will sell my current home and move...
