Re: Farang buying a house with a Thai lady
Yes I agree. At least it's better to have a lease agreement than have the property solely in partners name only. Your name will be on the chanote and your partner will find it next to impossible to sell the land etc. Gives you a powerful bargaining chip if you do part ways with the love of your lif...

That's more than likely true, and that's exactly what I thought after reading his post.

Re: New Hua Hin Immigration office at Bluport
There's a farang up in Korat who positively purrs when talking of how he slips 500 baht in his passport when passing it for examination, to 'ease the process'. Even though he qualifies for a visa extension. So I guess that's what they mean. Yes, and while there are ***cks like him it will never sto...

Re: Australian man dies in parasailing accident in Thailand
Watched the video a few times. Upper harness is checked vigorously. But the most important part, leg straps are not checked. On the video it's difficult to see if the leg straps are fixed, but I cannot imagine how you can slip as upper harness (2 straps) pass under both arms. Maybe he opened his ar...

Re: Australian man dies in parasailing accident in Thailand
We still don't know if it was a safety problem or a mistake done by the victim . And we probably never will. Do not be surprised if the next news from Thailand is that he committed suicide. Yes, it is a dangerous sport, but probably less so than driving on Thai roads . The following may give some c...

I have done parasailing one time many years ago in Phuket, and I will never do it again. Too risky!

Re: Can I buy strong bread flour here?
That's weird seeing an early post of mine - thanks for the update! I've found Tesco branches, Villa Market, Gourmet and Makro etc. also sell strong bread flour and yeast, and I'm so glad they stock them as apart from one or two new bakeries I would struggle to get half-decent bread here. However, e...

Re: longer-term Thai visa for a Cambodian national
This is sort of related - but please feel free to move elsewhere if appropriate. This is a real head-scratcher - you really do have to wonder what the Thai authorities are up to :banghead: A Dutch friend of mine wanted to do a visa run from Cambodia to Thailand last week so as to get a fresh 30-day...

Re: longer-term Thai visa for a Cambodian national
^Welcome to Thailand, the Government is corrupt here. Corruption in Government(Local, State, County, Provincial, Federal) is rampant these days in almost every country in the world.

Re: Vehicle Inspection Stations
Thanks Geko,
We had a new vehicle inspection station(that has the sign that you posted a picture of) that was recently built in a small town near our home, but it has been unmanned and empty for at least a month.
