Re: VPN Recommendations and Discussion

I have been using Nord for over four years and I am very satisfied. I used two different paid VPNs before Nord, and I prefer Nord.
I can’t comment on UK TV, but I stream American TV basically every day without any problems.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

I know it is wait and see time, but if adopted what I really dread is the thought of trying to navigate the bureaucracy that would be set-up to enforce this requirement – especially the idea of having to submit sensitive financial documents…… Will Americans be required to provide tax documents that ...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

An interesting article from the Thai Examiner. Below are some excerpts. I wonder when we will hear exact details..... Thai taxman now plans to tax foreigners on all income whether it is remitted to the kingdom or not under global tax rule • June 5, 2024 at 11:33 am • by Joseph O' Connor • in Economy...

Re: 'How To' - Requirements for visa extensions etc

Just FYI. My extension based on retirement was set to expire on 29 June 2024, but I decided to renew it today – 6 June. First, I arrived at the Bangkok Bank in Cha-Am at 08:30. I requested the two documents required for Immigration using the 800,000 baht in the bank method. The bank knew exactly wha...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

On another forum there is discussion as to whether the one billion or more applies to individuals or businesses.
Unfortunately, speculation rather than real-time clarification may be the pattern.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income

Not good news – although I don’t understand what they mean by a platform of one billion baht. It also says regardless of when the money was brought into Thailand. Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance Thailand to tax residents' foreign income irrespective of remittance...

Re: Small but growing cigar factory in Esteli Nicaragua.

Thanks for the video – very interesting.

Wish there was a factory like that here in Thailand.

Unfortunately, the import rules here make smoking quality cigars a luxury reserved for the wealthy.

Re: Songkran 2024 Road Accidents

Can you imagine trying to track all of the costs involved - technically I’m sure it’s feasible but practically it would be nearly impossible. Re: Thai law prohibits foreigners from driving passengers.

I don’t see this crackdown on drivers helping to increase tourism.
I would wager that many western tourists prefer to have someone from their home country driving them around. If nothing else, because of all the horrible van accidents……..

Re: Another alcohol clampdown

So, you go to a restaurant for dinner and decide to spend a small fortune for a halfway decent bottle of wine. And, when the server brings the bottle to your table instead of showing you the wine’s label, they will now show you a disgusting picture.
