Re: Thailand Floods Thread
I take your point but the 'forecasters' named Nongkhai last Monday 7th and forecast flash floods, mudslides etc in the coming week. Danger period for the 6th to 12th. We're already at the 10th and have had virtually nothing. Maybe we're going to pay for it in the next couple of days. Today we had su...

Nakhon Phanom is just up river from Nongkhai.
We are right on the Mekong. Rain and floods ....... almost nothing. The odd heavy shower every couple of days but all short lived.

Re: Moving Hua Hin Forum to a smaller site (HHF2): Poll
It's not viewed only in Hua Hin. My daughter reads stuff on here sometimes before I do. She lives in Hampshire.
Everyone know 'Lost'. He was in Thailand for a decade or so but has lived in London for quite a few years.

Re: Thailand Floods Thread
I live in Nongkhai now and the weather forecast gives high alert for floods. However we've had very little rain comparatively. Some short but heavy showers some nights but nothing in daytime. I moved here in September last year and never saw rain at all for several months. More recently, when BKK an...

Re: Why Do Expats Remain - Why Do They Come Back?
Saw this on FB. More near the truth than a funny joke. Sort of relevant in why Brits choose to remain here: "A starving asylum seeker is greeted at Dover by a good genie who grants him 3 wishes. The asylum seeker says i'm hungry. (POW) A huge banquet appears! He then says, "Now I want a ni...

Re: Why Do Expats Remain - Why Do They Come Back?
Agreed. Just pointing out just how difficult it is to make that first step. A Thai friend of mine has just got married. With planning they managed the marriage procedure in 3 weeks. Then they found the finance involved in getting a spouse visa was more than they could afford. The Thai wife needs the...

Re: Why Do Expats Remain - Why Do They Come Back?
It has become very difficult for a foreigner to move legally to the UK these days. Many years ago when I married my then Thai wife, we were married in one day and she got a visa from the embassy after being interviewed. The cost at the time was peanuts. A one year visa initially then ILR after the f...

Re: A Medical Emergency in Hua Hin
Google, what the hell is a "Zimmer Frame" ? Is this a British term ? What does the rest of the world call it ? A "Zimmer frame" is a British term for a walking frame, a mobility aid used by individuals with limited mobility. It's essentially a metal frame with legs and handles t...

Re: Dates when no alcohol sold in Hua Hin
I think you'll find they're closed 11th and 12th. Buddha Days: Yes, alcohol sales, including in bars, are likely to be banned in Hua Hin on May 11th and 12th, 2025, as Khaosod English reported. This is because May 11th, 2025, is Visakha Bucha Day, a major Buddhist holiday in Thailand, and alcohol sa...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
I did a transfer(c.2k£)24 hours ago and I'm still waiting for funds The tracker says it will be here tomorrow pm so 48 hours ish Luckily I'd planned ahead Sent from my 2412DPC0AG using Tapatalk I've never waited for more than a few hours. Sometimes only minutes. It does appear that there is a probl...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise
I've transferred many times without problems. Set up a transfer this morning. Initially tracked as 'on it's way and will be with you in 4 hours. 30 mins later I get the message: "Because of a technical issue, your transfer has been delayed. We’re already looking into the issue and will let you...
