Re: Gas BBQ

I have been told (by Weber) that I would not be able to use a Weber gas bbq bought in the UK in Thailand because the gas is different and I would not be able to change the controller without losing my warranty. Anyone have views on this ?

Re: buy or lease house

Again ...thanks for the input. The villa is on a development and I only have UK children and wife. The developer told me that I might save money if I chose to lease and sold the property at a later date .. does this mean there are better tax deals if you are leasing a house ??

Re: buy or lease house

OK ... let me try again. I am about to complete the purchase of a villa. I am not Thai so I will have a 30 year lease on the land with provision for 2x more 30 year periods. I am being asked if I would prefer to OWN the house that is on the leased land or LEASE the house that is on the leased land

Re: buy or lease house

Thanks for the input. The issue is that I have already contracted to purchase a villa with a 30 year lease on the land. The owner has told me that there are advantages in leasing the house rather than owning it. I am inclined to think it is better to own the house. Any views on this ?

Inovative purchase options

Is anyone aware of inovative ways of buying property from a developer ?I know some developers who offer a split buy/rental deal where you lease the property and they rent it out. You usually only get 6 weeks personal use but you can benefit from approx 60% of any rental income. An example of what I ...

Renting a villa on building site

I have purchased a villa which will be complete in November. There are 40-50 more villas planned so the site won't be 'complete' for 1-2 years. Does anyone have any experience of renting out a villa that is on a 'building site' ?

Thanks for the input .. I think I can put this to the test. All I will need to do is plan one trip ahead so that I will always have a return booked from Thailand within 30 days of arrival

Cheaper to fly return from Bangkok ?

I have been told that it is usually cheaper to get return flights originating in Bangkok rather than the UK. Only problem seems to be getting a cheap single from the Uk to start the process running. Is this correct ?

Mobile phones

I am told that it is best to bring a UK mobile phone over to Thailand and get it 'unlocked'. If I use a pay-as-you-go service what are the charges for calls to UK ..and are local calls very expensive?

I was very successful in giving up smoking ...when I had the heart attack I couldn't breath so giving up was easy ! Might be better to give up earlier .. might even prevent a heart attack.
