When I began to read your latest story Oe I was thinking that perhaps her boyfriend has instructed her to dress that way but, you dispelled that thought as I read further. You may be surprised how many nut cases in Pattaya tell their girlfriends to dress up in strange ways. A trip down Walking Stree...

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the modern Vietnamese developed by the missionaries decades ago is based upon the western ABC alphabet and grammer rules? If so, then I imagine the hardest task is getting to grips with vocabulary. Pete

Re: Farang Fatique ?

I am turning my back on the USA, it has made me not very proud of what they are doing around the world. Call me what you will, but I love Thailand, and it's people. I agree with what you say and welcome to the club but, don't turn your back on her completely. You may need her when you least expect ...

And at the stroke of midnight on New Year's eve your phone will go blank if you don't register. No "ringing" in the New Year... . I understand that you won't lose your number unless you delay to register beyond the point when you would lose your number anyway by not renewing your...

I read somewhere that the grace period is up until December 31 and, you will be able to register at any shop that sells mobile phones. You will need only your Thai ID card or foreign passport in our case. Pete

Do you think the less contact Thai's have with farangs the more genuine they're likely to be? For sure. I've seen it in Pattaya with various hotel staff who were as sweet as can be when first arrived from Nakonnowhere and slowly deteroriated as time went on and their exposure to farangs increased. ...

Try the below link and go to the bottom for the reservation form. I can't vouch for them though, proceed at your own risk. Also, do a web search for THAILAND TRAINS and there seems to be a few sites there where you can book on-line. Pete

I think many are xenophobic, including most of the government past and present. This is why the legislation to allow farangs 1 rai for residential purposes has been stalled for so many years. They are scared their entire country will be bought up. I think it is important to remember also that the te...

Heebio, what were the comments from those living in Pattaya? If they feel the same as I do, the atmosphere of friendliness has decreased each and every year since 1993 per my observations. Friendliness has been replaced with tolerance only. Enterprise and achieving as much wealth as possible, as qui...

Forgot to mention. Some receipts here are not worth the paper they are written on. Pay for your land with an official bank draft from a Thai bank and not in cash. That way there is a record of the transaction in case something goes wrong. Pete

In addition to what Jaime said, I've never run across a "moneychanger" whose rate was more than .50 Baht better than a bank. That means you may be able to achieve 5,000 baht more on 10,000 pounds than at a bank but......what are you going to do with the bag of cash? Leave it in your room w...

In all seriousness, the quality and style of the helmets here is a joke. Yes, the full face/neck/head style is available at around 1000 baht or more therefore the normal Thai can't afford one. What most wear would probably simply keep the remaining mush contained in one place after an accident. Pete

I've got to step out of this one Kate as I responded based upon you saying "Chonburi" which is close to where I am. I'm kind of on the HHAD eastern flank near Pattaya so can't comment on condo or availability of HSI in HH. If the manager says he can get it, just make sure your contract sta...

I've been more or less permanent over here for a long time. My Hilo house was a part year retreat I had for 6 years and sold last June. I think you'll like it here. Just remember there are many stray dogs and Hua Hin is no exception. Keep "your's" away from "them". Pete
