The farcical thing now is that the thread has gone right off topic onto speed cameras and driving law enforcement in general so it might as well be renamed Fish & Chips.[/quote]

Brilliant...

fascinating thread... my observations from the comments here and my own experiences are that it's a global issue, it very much depends on the individual and whether that individual is either corrupt (or desperate) enough to offer or take a bribe (in it's various guises). If we all followed those Ten...

HH Diving

Hi, just wondering how is the diving in and around HH? Anyone know cost for day trips and able to recommend a dive center?

I'm looking to do some more advanced training and a spot of recreational diving too. Do any of you guys go down () a lot?

Cheers!

Condo/Apt or hotel room wanted

Hi, Looking for 4 week minimum rental with internet in-room (decent connection if possible?) for work and ideally a gym and balcony. Something reasonable and comfortable ie. with fridge/small kitchen, satellite tv, balcony, sitting/lounging area. Doesn't need to be like the taj mahal so long as it's...

Season highs and lows

How is the season at the moment? I've had varying experiences at different time of year but generall find "now" to be a bit quieter and relaxed. Anyone else have similar or differing perspective? I find it can make a big difference to a stay. Peak season can be rather stressful by comparis...

Excellent map thanks... great for a newcomer like myself.

Suggestions:

When you hover over a marker have it display the location.

When you hover over a location have it highlight the marker.

Just my half a baht-worth.

Cheers!

I'm muchly interested to know where the good dive spots are around HH... are there many wrecks and what are the sights to be seen at this time of year? Coming from Maldives we're blessed with some of the best diving in the world and can't wait to try out some new spots near HH. Can you also do dive ...

What's a good place to find some of the board members here in HH? Not being one to particularly spent hours in internet cafe's whilst on hol if there is a certain day of the week or location some of the team meet. Realise there are probably many answers to this question but asking nonetheless.... oh...

Thai racing circuits

Anyone have any knowledge of such a place? Not necessarily talking about the next Sepang here but any road circuits capable of taking bikes on track?

I don't believe motorsports to be all that popular in Thailand unless anyone can suggest otherwise?

:thumb: nice change of tone there from the "G" ...

...still, glad I missed that particular event - the thought of watching either the England OR Scotland squad making sexy-time is probably good enough reason to switch back to the football anyway!

So.. we're agreed about the Thai/Filipino tribute band being crap, Hilton being expensive and smokey and either being full or not full of girls and/or farang/thai patrons ! Right, glad we got the facts straight on this issue  Luknam noted as another worthy contender sneaking in to possibly jos...

Nightlife update - warning - great peril awaits !

Seems to me the old bar/nightlife threads are waaaay old and somewhat off-topic in some instances. Now, purely in the interest of science and sharing with your fellow man (or woman for that matter, or somewhere in-between  ) would someone kindly like to do a round robin of as many night spots...

Superb and it'll be interesting to hear your views on living in HH, especially after your time in Patts so feel free to type away in due course and update us on the big move.

Nice one!

I'd recommend driving inland a good few miles and asking around the smaller villages/towns. As previously pointed out there's no market in the bigger places for bamboo in large quantities.
