Re: Grocery shopping in Khao Takiab

Takiab soi 8 is very narrow, there is an alternative with less traffic from where you are with the bike is turn left into the white temple to the end, there is a road along the canal that will take you to the railroad crossing, from there you can cross into Hua Hin soi 91 to Petchkasam. The Tesco Lo...

Re: Afternoon tea in/around Hua Hin..?

A proper afternoon tea at the Centara is probably the best in town. I agree the price has gone a bit far... there are a few hotels and cafe/bakery offers afternoon tea. I haven't try them all yet but Hyatt McFarlen House has afternoon tea and I think it might be compatible to Centara's atmosphere. O...

Re: Wanted: Banyan Golf Membership

not sure if Banyan golf memeberships are transferable, but you can look on their website, they have very attractive membership terms for 10 year for non-residents or residents...lifetime membership is only for people who has a lot or house on the Banyan Estate.

Re: Labua development

Hi Spark, Buying and maintaining a second home in Thailand was one of the more challenging experience I have ever had. We bought our house in 1997 and sold it last August and now we prefer to rent. It's very different from owning a vacation home in Europe or U.S. I suggest you come and have a look a...

Re: Labua development

I have seen La Bua location and the website. The location is near Black Lotus/Greenscape and they are just starting to clear the land. The website is well done and there is a real estate agent in Khao Takiab advertising the development infront of their office. Never heard of Nordic Homes but it does...

Re: Mobile phone registration

We did it a couple of days ago. Went to AIS in MV early in the morning and the greeting lady helped us to get a number and were served right away. Registered two cell phones plus one aircard SIM card, filled out one form with all the numbers and copy of passport. All took 10 minutes..no sweat....

Re: Resale Villas on Palm Hills? Comments and advice

Hi ThaiBrit, We have been living on PH every winter since 2007. There are pros and cons just like living in any community, so to quickly answer some of your questions: Most of the houses on PH are custom build on large parcels so that may be a negative factor when it comes to re-sell because most pe...

Re: Quick Question - Beer/Wine and Golf

There is a wine bar close t Centara where you can taste different wines and buy single bottles to take out. It's at the beginning of the small soi next to the City Beach Hotel across from Burger King. Another alternative will be Mondo Vino a bit north of the town center, they have a free flow night ...

Re: Mosquito Screens

A few years ago I have screen fitted on all the sliding doors in the living room, 3 bedrooms and kitchen, all 9 panels (each panel is one side, so if you have a double sided sliding door or french doors, that will be 2 panels) the cost was 22,500 Bht and in subsequent years I have additional screens ...

Re: Casual Restaurants North Hua Hin - South Chaam area

The seafood place opposite Palm Hills is called Chom Talay, it's right next to The Boat House. A bit further up on Petchkasem in the VIP condo complex just before the security gate on the right there is a little cafe called Lilawadee, very good food (Thai and western) and reasonable price. Past Palm...

good and experienced rooferneeded

Got a flat roof that is leaking at the seams. anyone knows a good roofer or company can re-seal the seams and waterproof the whole thing? I don't want to just caulk around the edges, that will not last too long, I need someone knows how to seal the edges properly.

Thanks

Re: looking for afordable but clean rooms

Palada Guest House is a new guest house about 100m across the street from Centara (Sofitel). Nice, large clean rooms, good food, close to the beach. Google Palada Guest Housse Hua Hin, I think they are on Agoda.com. The guest house is run by a young Thai lady with her Swiss BF.
