Re: Vietnam compared to Thailand for living
So I'm arrogant & deplorable, because I follow the rules. Nothing wrong with being wealthy (I'm far from that), poor (relative), but do have enough funds to meet the rules, retired, married and or working doesn't matter. But if not meeting the requirements, and following the rules, please stop c...

Re: Thailand Air Pollution Alerts
I'm a Xiaomi product fan, and use those filter. Quite happy with them. Have 2 (bdrm /lvrm), and bought 1 for my daughter at Pathum Thani.

Re: Vietnam compared to Thailand for living
For 'living' ... Thailand wins hands down, simply for consistent visa regulations. Not much if anything has change in the 20 years I've been coming, or decade or so before. Basically same rules for long stay; marriage / retirement. A lot has changed in two decades: 90 day reporting and fines, no mo...

Re: Thailand Air Pollution Alerts
3M N95 / N99 masks are, should be available at HomePro & Global House. Where I got ours (HP & LAZ). Have yet to wear them though. Not really out and about that much locally besides dog at the park, or occasional surf side sitting. Which incoming breeze should keep most of the pollution to th...

Re: Vietnam compared to Thailand for living
Here's another for a ball park idea, and some things to be taken with a grain of salt, others probably quite accurate. Can always change the cities HH vs Da Nang, or whatever pleases. https://i.postimg.cc/768DskS9/Screenshot-39.png https://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Th...

Re: Vietnam compared to Thailand for living
So, has anyone been a regular visitor to Nam, say the past 5 yrs, or personally know an ex Thai expat, who has based themselves there, for any 'inflation' comparisons. Would expect the same as here, 5 ish % per year, if paying attention. I know when I arrived here 2020: 3 eggs - 5 baht, now 1 egg 49...

Re: Vietnam compared to Thailand for living
Not reveling at all. Just pointing out the fairly obvious. The scammers that made bad for the rest of us here, using agents, and taking advantage of a corrupt system, now are not welcomed elsewhere. So go back to where you came from. OK, maybe revel a bit, as they really made things bad for all of u...

Re: Vietnam compared to Thailand for living
Not a cheap shot at all. Maybe I just planned my retirement to a foreign country just a wee bit better. I lost 25 % value on the $$$ and had to deal with the same 100+ % inflation. I'm sure it's just a coincidence that shortly after Thailand started enforcing the rules, and kicking the scammers out,...

Re: Vietnam compared to Thailand for living
They probably got flooded with the foreigners that couldn't make the financials here, and seemed to learn quick why Thailand didn't want them.....

Re: Big C shows interest in Tesco take-over
The only chain worse than T/L is Big C. I avoided both when available. No Big C at PKK, but Udon Thani has a couple. It was a nice relief when T/L opened up there, now they suck. T/L here in PKK is one of the worse I've ever been in. Big C acquired CarreFour, some quite good, and then they sucked or...
