Re: Wise formerly Transferwise

Just to put that into perspective. Sending 10 x £1000 as opposed to one transfer of £10,000 would cost £6 more. So not a great penalty. Quite true its not much and what can we do, there are no serious options, using an overseas CC costs even more, I brought AU$10k at a cost of AUD5, so I can't comp...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise

Probably because the banks can't skim off any money on the transfer. Exactly, many of my friends in Luxembourg work in international banking and they tell me that fees on currency transfers are a substantial part of their profit. Not so in Australia. A recent government review of bank operations sh...

N.B. The 50,000 limit to other banks only applies to a 'per transfer' limit. There is no limit to the number of transfers you can do at 49,999 baht per transfer.
Of course not but it will cost you a lot more to do multiple transfers,

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise

I was very surprised when I started using Transferwise because they were saving me £50 to £100/month. I didn't think banks would cooperate, but they have been very good. Wise are putting their fees up very soon, but the increase is minimal. Using them is a key part of my annual visa renewal plan, a...

Re: Wise formerly Transferwise

Wise have responded and advised that all payments from Australia now go via CUSCAL Limited, who process the payments through to Wise. However Wise should really have this statement on their web site. When I entered the BSB to do the transfer and saw the name was CUSCAl not Wise I was really concerne...

Re: Thailand tourist slump continues

Having just been to Bangkok for four nights including a weekend I would say BKK is busy but not with foreigners. I stayed in the Arnoma Grand which in the past was always full, the only foreigners were myself and 4 Singaporeans. No beers in the bar, the hostess said the boss will not buy stock as th...

Wise formerly Transferwise

I have used TransferWise extensively however not for the last year. I tried to transfer from my Australian bank to Kasikorn and Wise gave the details to enter on my bank system, as it has always done. However this time it gave a new BSB and Account number. When entering these details on my bank site...

Re: Thailand hikes national park entrance fees, dual pricing remains

But are they still accepting a foreigner with a Thai ID or driving license to pay as a Thai. In my experience this was very common, however it did depend on just where you go. It was always hit and miss, the busy tourist parks in Phuket and Krabi were very unlikely to, but you stood a better chance...

Re: (Don't) Wear a Mask Debate

I have always been a staunch supporter of wearing a face mask during these difficult times. However when on my scooter the other day I got stuck behind a truck and after a very short time I had to pull over as the fumes were chocking me. Now if truck diesel fumes get through the mask I really can't...

Re: ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK Movies at Hua Hin Cinema

I watched Top Gun: Maverick at Blueport yesterday, what a fantastic movie, no or very little green screen scam acting. Cashless entry so make sure you have a bank credit card or can scan a QR code to make payment. Only about 10 people there which was so surprising, and not a single Thai. By the way ...

I have had them in a previous property, expensive and not that much better. I have had the water tested from both present properties and they are now within WHO limits.

Re: Is there a problem with Hua Hin Water?

Easy enough to install an in line filter, not the big fancy ones but a simple one. I have in my place and also installed one in Isaan, makes so much difference.
