Re: Leaving a bar

Boyfriend says OK but wants proper receipt for the money from the owner stating what the money was paid for. Owner gets very twitchy and refuses to give receipt for the money. I can only imagine there is a Thai guy sitting having a beer today, LAO with his mates, going, wow, falangs are so strange ...

Re: Cholesterol

An option I would look at, is if you have a regular small Thai restaurant that you like / you are known, is buy a bottle of oil you want to use, and ask them to use it when preparing your food, when you eat in or take away. I am sure they will oblige for a loyal customer and you can leave the oil th...

Re: Burglaries behind Soi 80.

This does sound a bit weird, sleeping dust? / or gas? seems very ambitious, when you could just wait for the house to be empty. Plus most people use either a/c, fan or have a window open at night here, so I am not sure how the practicalities of "dusting" people would work? Rooms are well v...

Re: Hua Hin Cinema

This is a good website and gives times / language etc, http://www.movieseer.com/th/showtimes.aspx But it is not 100% accurate, so always call and check the times and language before going down. The tel number is on the website. Cost about 120 something, depends on the seat / time / day, blah blah. C...

Re: Are you selling your property in Thailand?

Everywhere has problems but on balance I still love it here and would hate to have to move.

Overall Thailand suits me really well.

The rate Hua Hin is growing the net inflow still well exceeds the outflow, although I guess every time someone / somewhere is moving on to pastures new.

Re: Hua Hin Cinema

Put it in perspective.. if you know a little restaurant that serves only Thai food and a few Farangs say that there's a calling for fish and chips within the community so they add it to there menu. After a while they start losing money on this as the fish is going bad and they are selling one a day...

Hua Hin Cinema

Everyone who complains there is never English movies at the cinema, it is currently showing, Killer Elite in English, times, once in the afternoon, plus 18.45 and 21.00. I went last night and the reason they never show English movies was clear, we were 2 of 8 people in the show! Its a great movie ab...

There are no problems currently by road from the airport to Hua Hin. Except for heavy traffic, not watery problems.

Re: [ADVERTORIAL] Shake Central

I had a cream and strawberry donut shake, honestly mainly for the novelty value, but it was excellent, very tasty, and very filling. A proper milkshake with ice cream and different to anything else on offer around Thailand.

I recommend it, something different.

Good luck Shakeman!

Re: The Floods of 2011

Pal, at the moment everything in Hua Hin is fine, it is busy, but always is on a holiday weekend, (today is a public holiday) as for shortages, or water etc, imo, they are being a bit over hyped and certainly exaggerated, some big chains like Tesco are evidently suffering supply chain problems, but ...

Re: LIVE Music bars/venues

Another good place is Souay Vista up soi 94. (Keep going over the railway line and then across the junction). They have nice live music, and rocky / blues etc. Worth the trek over imo. There was another thread with a Norwegian (I think) live band in Chaam, never been, but got good reviews on the thr...
