Re: Changing Non Im O-A to Retirement Visa
You wan an "O" visa as no health insurance requirements. Health Insurance must be for 400,000 thb which is prohibitly expensive for that benefit. I don't understand the health insurance requirement at all since you already show 800,000 thb in bank (I do). I got stuck with this on last O-A ...

Re: Isthmus of Kra, Thai canal, land bridge plans
How much time would be saved by unloading the containers in Ranong, transporting over land to Chumpong and reloading on ship there? I think they could transit the straights in far less time that it would put the containers over land unload and reload. What am I seeing that makes this sound kind of s...

Re: Govt, China envoy discuss arms maintenance depot
Government would be stupid to allow this to happen. Once China gets its claws sunk into the country, the game is over.

Re: TV repair shop
My experience so far with multiple TV's failing that it is not worth it to try to repair. Our last "repair" job was a nother failure resulting in us just having to purchase a new model which always has been the case in the past. You can now get a lot more TV for your baht than what you pur...

Re: Importing
Using an agent is a wise choice. Will cost you but pay you back in the long run as they manage the government and all of its ridiculous requirements. I brought a box of 18 items from the U.S. last year and when it got to DHL in Thailand they sat on it for a week before even trying to clear customs t...

Re: Thai elite visa
I looked into it over a year ago and priced out all the "perks" they offer vs purchasing each on your own. It only makes sense if you have excess money and want the convenience of the escorting in and out of the airport and free taxy two and from the airport. You can purchase all of those ...

Re: Pak Nam Pran Wrecked
Building a good seawall is quite a daunting project. At least 2 + meters below the top of the sand, Extremely thick with a curve and a rough surface to break up the shock of the waves hitting it. Costly projects and haven't seen but few walls meet that criteria. All the others fail and break apart t...

Down here in the South (Khanon) the waves were smashing over the walls and flooding everything within 20 meters at arund 11:30am yesterday. Fun to watch all of the bad sea walls getting undermined.

Re: Induction Cooktops / Hobs
Have had a MEX Induction Hob in my house for over 8 years now. I like the precise heat control that you can have with it . I grew up with Electric cooking so am used to it taking a while to heat up but it will boil water much faster than that explosive gas does. I can cook my pancakes on #6 and ever...

Re: Govt approves 120km/h speed limit
I don't get it. I've only seen 2 Traffic Police on the highway in my 13 years here. All they have to do is put some Traffic Police on the highways and make them do their job. Never will happen so who cares what the speed limit is.

Re: Water pump problem
In the future you should install shut off valves for every major water line coming from the pump. You can then isolate where the leak is coming from easily. I did that when I was installing my pumps and it sure helps to determine where the leak is coming from.

Re: Kerry Express Problem
I've never had a problem with Kerry Express. I live in the south and the overnight delivery from BKK is certainly better than Thai Post at two days. Now DHL and FedEx are a different matter. they always hand off to someone else and it is difficult to figure out where the package is after they make t...
