Re: Applying for first Thai driving licence
I might have been very lucky, but I went to the test centre at Cha Am, although it is actually a good 10 kms past Cha Am towards Petchaburi. However on producing copies or originals of medical certificate, UK driving licence, passport with residence visa, proof of residence, I walked out of the &quo...

Re: Buying an airgun in HuaHin/Thailand
I borrowed it from somebody in my wifes (Thai) family, but on the basis that I dont think I have managed to hit one pigeon with it, then it might as well go back to the owner rather than take an (unlikely) risk of somebody reporting me to the MIB.

Do you know if you can fire the ceramic pellets in an air rifle designed to fire lead pellets (.177 calibre)?

Re: Buying a SUV?
As I started this thread off, I thought I should provide an update on what I ended up buying - a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. I choose the 2WD version simply because I cant see me needing 4WD very often. I added 17" wheels rather than the standard 16" and they threw in a reversing camera, tint...

Re: What was your most memorable meal? Where was it?
This could be a bit of a ramble but I want to do it justice. It was 1975 and we had booked to go to a BB Guesthouse in North Devon in a tiny hamlet called Roborough. It turned out that the Guesthouse originated as the Manor House of the Sheriff of Devon in the 16th century and resembled a church wit...

Re: Taxi Or Car Rental in HH?
Tony Just a minor point, but the Sheraton is slightly closer to Hua Hin than Cha Am, although not by very much. Its a fine hotel but stuck almost literally in the middle of nothing much, so for getting into Hua Hin or Cha Am during the day, or in the evening for a change of food than at the Sheraton...

Re: buying new scooter
I bought a Honda PCX over a year ago and have been very happy with it - it rides much better than say a Honda Wave and is definitely more comfortable, although still not great for anything more than local running around. We put the bike in my Thai wife's name which like so many things here, makes it...

I can remember saying about a year ago that she would be dead before she reaches 30 - great talent, great waste - as the saying goes, money doesnt guarantee happiness!!

Re: Best Camera for around 7000 baht
John I have just bought a Cannon IXUS115HS model in the UAE for the equivalent of 6500 baht which has 12.1 mega-pixels, 4 times optical zoom and HD movie capability. Very compact and takes great quality pictures. Trouble is that there are so many variations just within the Cannon brand alone not to ...
