Re: Restaurents near The Anantara

Chomtalay is a very good restaurant in a beautiful setting on the beach. It is located on the water just north of the tunnel almost opposite the entrance to Palm Hills. I am sure the concierge at the Anantara can give you the exact directions.

Re: Time left on US passport

I believe the 6 month time period is only required when entering another country but no such requirement on returning to the U.S. as long as passport is valid

Re: Shirt Colour

I try not to wear yellow or red shirts anymore while in Thailand. In U.S. gangs are associated by colours like red and blue. Its crazy to think that wearing a certain colour can sometimes get you into unknown trouble

Re: Gym recommendation?

I've worked out at both the Hilton and Market Village not too much weight machines at either place. I was staying at Hilton for a couple of days so don't know what charges were or if you could pay on a daily basis. At Market Village there are lots of options from daily, weekly to monthly charges, ac...

barry, I just spoke to my buddy who just did this 2 months ago. He said the process took about 6 weeks. His angle was that the gf was going back to visit his sister (sponsor) for a family event (Christening). The sister said the gf was a friend of the family as they had met on a couple of occasions ...

Re: Thinking of coming for two weeks Dec 30th on ------shoul

The last couple of years I have been to Bangkok for New Years Eve and it well worth the visit. Great atmosphere and excellent fireworks around the city. If you are there on January 1st then go to the Sky bar at the Lebua as there is a fireworks show in the area around 9:00pm. Its pretty spectacular ...

No transit visa is necessary if you connect direct to your flight. Its not that difficult to get a visitors visa to Ireland for Thai gf however you may need an Irish resident to be a sponsor

Re: Seafood on beach?

I have eaten at Apple a few times and the food is excellent and definitely worth a visit. If you want a place a little more upscale but reasonable in price then Chomtalay is worth trying. The setting is beautiful right on the beach and food is excellent. Its a little bit out of town (north end) almo...
