Re: New 6 pin chipped ATM cards at Thai banks
Yesterday I went to SCB with my delaminating card and was issued a new chipped ATM card with 6-digit PIN, for no cost. No option to get another "old-fashioned" magnetic-swipe card. I asked if it were usable in all ATMs, and was advised it was currently good only in SCB, Bangkok Bank and Th...

Re: Airport VIP Bus to and from Hua Hin
No. When they changed systems early this year, we lost the ability to select a seat. I had e-mailed them about that (and the addition of a B50 online booking fee) and got a nice reply saying to send an e-mail with your seat request after you have confirmed the reservation. After doing that three tim...

Re: FedEx now have office in Hua Hin
I just sold a house in the USA and had to send 37 sheets of A4 paper at the fastest possible way (so I did not use my discount) and FedEx cost only B987. It was delivered in 48 hours.
Thanks for the info about the place.

Re: New 6 pin chipped ATM cards at Thai banks
I've been living on borrowed time with my SCB ATM card: http://www.wpcoe.com/images/ATM_card.jpg The plastic laminate on both sides of the card has been flapping loose for a little while now, but I keep forgetting to take my bank book with me to get a new card. Wonder if I'll be "upgraded"...

Re: FedEx now have office in Hua Hin
Does anybody know if that is a true FedEx office, or a franchised/contracted office? I get a discount on shipping, but need to use a bona fide FedEx office. I have used the one in the Green Building on Rama 4 in Bangkok. Even though I don't often ship things, it would be nice to have a local office.

Re: Govt plans Pattaya - Hua Hin/Cha-am ferry link
Wow. Where do they get those expected passenger numbers? 2.8 million passengers/yr = over 7,600 passengers daily. "He said there would be 16 daily trips for the Pattaya-Pran Buri route and 20 for the Pran Buri-Bang Pu-Pattaya route." Even if they don't mean a total of 36 ferrys daily, just...

Google Earth Hua Hin updated
Maybe this is old news, but I just noticed that the Google Earth aerial images for Hua Hin, at least for central Hua Hin, have been updated with 2-5-2016 (which I think is in USA date format, meaning 05-Feb-2016?) images. Also quite a few side sois which previously didn't have Street View images now...

Even better would be to know the results of the test samples.

Kickass seems to keep changing domain names, but "http://kickass.to" has been working for me for several years now. It seems the DNS Servers automatically transfer to site-of-the-day without a hiccup. e.g. Just now, I used my "kickass.to" bookmark and it resolved to https://kat.cr/

Re: Why is it (sometimes) so difficult to buy something?
I also had a fun time buying a washing machine at Home Pro a few years back. I think it's detailed somewhere here on HuaHinForum, but the upshot was that they only had a display model and it was significantly marked down. However, they wouldn't sell the display model without a LOT of banter. I kept ...

Re: Getting money into Thailand
Here are two very good ways: 1. Open an account at any Bangkok Bank in Thailand. A "savings" account is probably best, it's what I use now, but I d the same thing with a "checking" account. They have a US branch, I think in New York, with a US "routing" or "swift&...

Re: Hua Hin airport to be expanded to accommodate larger aircraft
I thought there were flights to Malaysia at one time? How could the airport not be an "international" airport? I thought if an airport had CIQ (Customs/Immigrations/Quarantine) facilities it was an international airport. Does Hua Hin Airport have those facilities?

That's encouraging. From an earlier post it sounded like the official tuk tuk area was turning into a high-priced queue.

Aren't high-speed rail lines usually built on raised platforms/land so that there are no grade-level crossings?

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
IIRC, it takes a week or two of the late afternoon dark/low clouds before it develops in to rain. Hoping it isn't much longer than that this year.
