Re: What are your views on the 2nd hand car market?

I think it's also important to remember that part of the reason used cars are valued so little in Europe and America is the very high cost of maintaining them--labor is very expensive. Here, labor is very cheap, so even an old clunker won't cost that much to keep running.

Please drop me a message if you'll be coming along for the Easter festivities/general festivities--we don't want to get caught out without en...

Re: Bomb explosion in Bangkok

I suppose it was only a "Knee jerk reaction"... to hurl the grenade at BKK police... and the fact he survived means by the time he faces justice...he won't have a "Leg to stand on".... in fact one can only assume he will have a lifetime now of "Short comings".... Thai police will now have alot of "...

Re: Living on 1000 baht per day

Glad that was helpful Johnny. Just to clarify--that's NOT my lifestyle, just the lifestyle that I would imagine a single guy in HH would probably want to have. I'm married with a kid, don't drink much, don't do the short-term girlfriend thing at all, and eat mainly at home.... I'd actually built tha...

Re: Living on 1000 baht per day

yes, you can. No, it would not be meager at all. BUT it depends on you. Do you like to cook? do you like Thai food, or need Farang food? In the scenario you outline let me throw out a realistic budget for you (Making some assumptions on your tastes in food and company): Breakfast: Monthly Budget: 27...

Ronn, What are you looking for?

US style swim "Trunks" or a German style "Banana Hammock"? There's a few good stores at Market Village for either.

Re: 20cm x 20cm ziplock plastic bags for airport security

(Hope I'm not tempting fate here) I have never put my liquids in a bag outside of the US. I travel with fairly minimal liquids anyway (A few medicines, some stink-juice, a travel sized tooth-paste) but I've never been searched. I always put them in an outside pocket of my carry-on, but that's it. I'...

Re: heathrow horror

The questions may be offensive, but that's actually the point. By throwing you off guard, they're hoping you might reveal more than you intend with your body language/eyes/answers, etc. The best response in these situations is a simple "That's a rather offensive question, and I won't dignify it with...

Re: Thai friend to travel with me to US

The embassy wants to see proof that the person will not stay in the US, and has reason to return to Thailand. The most common reason for rejecting a visa application is perfunctory answers, lack of documented proof of answers, etc. Generally if you can provide a compelling narrative in the visa appl...
