For the extra comfort and I think personally a higher safety choice I would take a pass on the mini-van and get the A.C bus from the south terminal or Swampy. But again what do I know.

There are a number of sites to check in regards to hotels. I my self would not stay at the Sand Inn and send an extra 300-500 baht for a nicer place.

I know what I am entitled to apply for but on the subject of tourism or long stayers below retirement age they could do a lot more to welcome the foreigner and more visitor friendly visa regulations . Maybe the army could consider side-lining some of that B1bn towards a printed survey sheet for tourists to fill in just before they leave..then they (TAT) may get an idea what the average tourist DISLIKED about their stay..? Jet-ski, tuk-tuk, roadside police, 1 hr wait at airport immigration, meter...

The other issue is the rice farmers will expect help all the time now and I doubt that this is going to be continuous thing nor will the Thai government be able to afford it. And I think there is the issue of government subsidy which will go to court by other rice farming countries saying unfair adv...
