Re: Golf Course Closures

We are in the golf business and thus far all golf courses are operating as normal except at some there maybe restrictions on alcohol sales for a few days. As far as running on a golf course. I would not recommend it. You are likely at some point to either bother the players or more importantly get h...

Re: Looking for a golf game in November

On November 1, rates at all the golf courses and hotels go up - it is considered high season until Songkran whether town is busy or not.

To the OP would also suggest you keep an eye out for the Power Tee event run twice monthly at Banyan. It's a lot of fun and good value.

Re: Just had the worst dining experience in 20 + years of coming to Hua hin

We have eaten at Zafran since it moved to Take 5 in Khao Takieb a number of times. While service can be a little slow the food has always been excellent. It's converted my Thai wife to agreeing to eat Indian - which she has never really enjoyed before. Sounds like a bad night and would suggest givin...

Re: Primary Schools Hua Hin

We had our son, now 7, enrolled for 18 months at BECC. We found the education to be very good and his teacher for the time he was there was excellent. She has now moved back to Australia. Our son enjoyed attending and we believed he was getting a good education - it was far from "crap" as ...

Re: Life in Thailand: Battling Boredom

No time to be bored here. Wish the days were 30 hours long to get everything accomplished I want to on a daily basis.
I do not believe it's up to Thailand to make me happy or not bored. It's up to me to be happy & active wherever I am.

Re: UHT Vana Nava Hua Hin City FC 2015

Big Boy, changing the subject a little. I live in Khao Takieb, quite close to the new stadium. On what days do Hua Hin FC typically play their home games and what is the average size of the crowd? I ask because it's already very busy in this area on Friday and Saturday evenings because of Cicada Mar...

Re: Wedding on the beach?

I know you mention you do not want a hotel but Anantasila Hotel on Khao Takieb Beach is perfect and would provide just what you need (including the flowers). We had some friends get married there. They also have a very nice beachfront restaurant and overall it would not be too expensive. Contact The...

Re: Kan Air starting new route between Hua Hin and Chiang Mai

Yes we flew recently to and from Chiang Mai (CNX) on Kan Air and I must say the service was excellent.
The plane seats 66 and the flight was surprisingly smooth. Air time about 90 minutes. Hope the route is successful as it provides an easy way to get to CNX for a few days from Hua HIn.

Re: Golf tour provider

You'll can get better prices with a good golf tour provider. They have contract rates at the various clubs in town.
There are a number of good ones and would recommend Siam PGA Holidays located in Hua Hin.

I have to say most of the well contented ex-pats I know do not read or comment on the forum. They are too busy enjoying their time here and have very active lifestyles with plenty of interests.

Re: Some tips for long term stay

To answer your question I would suggest considering Khao Takieb. We live here, which is just south of Hua Hin and love the area. It's easy to get into town and Market Village, the beach is 100 yards from our house, we can walk to multiple restaurants (with new ones opening all the time) and Cicada M...

Re: Govt mulls plans to extend work permits to 2 years

This would be a small step in the right direction. Right now I have to renew my Visa annually in February and my WP annually in October. Both time consuming and high "pita" factor. Anything to reduce the hoops we have to jump through on a regular basis to work & stay legally in this co...

Re: Recommendations for 3 best golf courses

Banyan is a great test of golf and always in excellent shape. BM is a little more manufactured but another class golf experience. Greens are superb. Majestic has the best layout in town and fun to play when in good shape - and it is at the moment. Royal Rachaburi is a classic course and worth the tr...

Re: Golf Clubs and Caddy experiance

By far the best overall golf experience in Hua Hin is at Banyan IMHO. Also caddies are well trained and typically very good. You will pay a little more to play at Banyan but it is worth it. Black Mountain also has very good caddies. I find at other clubs caddy experience is varied, some good, some t...

Re: Hua Hin Golf Gossip

I do think Majestic could do itself a lot of good if it did reduce green fees while it works on the course. It's clearly still not in good shape in comparison to others in the area. It would engender a lot of goodwill and attract more golfers. Who knows they even may increase revenue through additio...
