From experience I can confirm that it is often the case that it is significantly cheaper to buy a ticket such as the one mentioned out of BKK. If he waits to buy it after arrival, he will not be allowed to board the flight to BKK without a visa. The best way around this is to buy in advance a ticket...

You can buy a one-way ticket with no visa, but you will not be allowed to board the flight to Thailand without proof of a ticket out. The ticket out does not have to be a return ticket to you point of departure. So say you are flying London to BKK, you could buy a one way ticket London to BKK and a ...

This is very sad news. I did not know Dr Dave other than reading his posts and, when in HH, listening to his show from time to time. The thread re the death of DJ Gee, resurrected by Randy Cornhole, is worth reading, as it gives an insight into Dr Dave that is very touching.

HH has changed enormously since I first visited in 2001. The growth of infrastructure will lead to a growth in the population that will in turn lead to a growth in the infrastructure. HH is not reliant on farangs and is a popular destination for people from Bangkok. Among farangs, it has a strong an...

Malaysia has a retirement program that actively encourages foreign retirees. Under their scheme you can own up to 2 houses. Further, you can buy them as investments before moving in. :P Foreign retirees can be an important wealth generator for Thailand and Malaysia. I suspect things will not change ...

?!@*%^%’s idea of bartering frozen chickens for the Russian jets tickled my fancy. The Russians are a major importer of frozen chicken from America. Thailand is a major exporter of frozen chickens. As no F-16’s (the air force’s pick) can be bought because of American sensitivities to little th...

Both India and China are vying for influence in Burma. China is investing heavily in Burma, building a new seaport with overland links to China. This will bye-pass the need to ship around the Malacca Straits. Thailand obtains a lot of its gas supplies from Burma. Therefore sanctions by the US and li...

What do you get for $160,000,000 in security? A comedy gag and with a lot of wankers. If they had called in Agents 86 and 99 to organise the security they would have got the same result - a comedy gag and with a lot of wankers.

Just heard the Pres on radio addressing the “OPECâ€
