Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
I did say before that I wasn't anti-EV ... and didn't want arguments, but there are too many evangelists in this thread, so I'm outta here and back to observation mode ...

Re: Slide fan recommend
Went to Home Pro during the week to look for fans ... got the usual HP story ... "mai mee" for the ones we wanted, only for show. The sales walla said it has been hot so decent fans were "mod laew, no satock." Easier buying online or in Global House.

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
It won’t be double the price in Thailand. Thailand ... triple. :duck: The prices of these things are still too silly for me, even with the "Chinese discount," and way too much tech to go wrong. Thais buy them for show show - a car is a status symbol, a fancy EV is bigger show. I read some...

Re: TV series worth watching/downloading
"Don't know if it's already been mentioned but another faraway in space series which I remember watching around the same time as Dark Matter was Killjoys." Not sure if this is the one, but judging by the preview, it's not one I'd go for - despite the rating... Oh Pietro <sigh>, you're suc...

Climate change could force Thailand to move its capital
Thailand may have to consider relocating its capital Bangkok because of rising sea levels, a senior official in the country's climate change office said on Wednesday. Projections consistently show that low-lying Bangkok risks being inundated by the ocean before the end of the century. Much of the bu...

Re: Major Economic Issues For Thailand
Slowdown weighs on current account Thailand's waning appeal in terms of attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), an uneven tourism recovery and the currency outlook are pressuring the country's current account surplus, which is still below the pre-pandemic level, says BMI, a Fitch Solutions comp...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
To quote myself, nice try, but "you're not going to convert me". The one you referenced costs nearly triple what our Mitsu Triton did and I'm pretty sure it'll run problem free for at least the next decade (as our previous Mitsu did). If all charging had to be done at stations that would c...

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
But in TH, unless actually needing a truck, (2 options coming next year) I think people are crazy if their next new car here is an ICEV. I've followed this debate but haven't contributed and will remain on the fence for now ( we have and need a truck , so you're not going to convert me). Got 3 poss...

Re: Thai Football 2023/24
Trat and Police are effectively relegated. The final place will be fought over by Chonburi, Lamphun, Prachuap, Sukhothai, Khon Kaen and Nakhon Pathom, although Chonburi must be favourite for that last spot, being 4 points adrift already. You can go from next to the relegation zone to mid-table with...

Re: How can Thailand curb its appalling road fatality rate?
You only need to watch the Thai news channels on weekdays between 7:30 to just past 8 am to witness the utter absurdity.. Oh yes, great morning viewing that segment. I'd say 80% of the carnage is caused by the scooters not looking where they're going, as you say, combined with the pickups/SUVs driv...

Yep, a bit of fettling and it works now. Will definitely be changing VPN when the subscription runs out in a couple of months.

Re: BBC iPlayer
Trying to watch the North West 200 on iPlayer but getting the "iPlayer only works in the UK" error using Express VPN. Is this no longer an option? (was going to change VPN providers anyway when this runs out). Edit: seems to be a browser issue, it'll only work with Chrome. Edit 2: still no...

Re: Renewing a UK passport in Thailand
I used an agent and was advised not to use a UK card because the bank would want to call to verify the transaction. Used a K-Bank Visa debit card which worked (passport still not back after 7 weeks though so prepare for a long wait).
