Re: Marrage visa requirements

I've just been through the process and it is painful! Good advice from lomuamart above. They do have a check list in both English and Thai but they're both different! The Thai one has more on it than the one in English. In addition to the check list and on top of a little tea money, they wanted a pi...

Re: [ADVERTORIAL] The Dutchman Hua Hin Bar & Restaurant

I've been a couple of times with the family and friends - once for the fish and chips and once for the steak and pepper sauce. Both meals were excellent - even the kids ate most of it :)

Well done manouhh - I'll definitely be back again!

Re: Golf Rules - Questions and Answers

Johnnymac, He can't do that or at least he should not have done that. Not very sportsman like I would say. You played the provisional under the Rules. You were not aware of the Water Hazard. I would insist he put that ball up his... Oh sorry back to the Topic. If any thing similar happens like that...

Re: Please help me select a new laptop

Hi caller. Just wanted to comment on Samsungs - I think Toshiba are pretty good but Samsung tend to trump them on specs. I'm on my second one now - an RV511 - which is a great piece of kit I have to say. Previous laptop - an R70 - lasted pretty well, stood up to a lot of abuse, but the graphics card...

Re: A dentist who listens?

The missus tells me there's a dental wing at the HH hospital Pleng. She's trying to summon up the courage to go there to get a tooth sorted. I think a dental hospital is more likely to put you out than a dentist. I was put out with gas as a 15 yo with an impacted tooth - got to agree with you on the...

Re: Golf Rules - Questions and Answers

Thanks SunandFun - nice explanation. I guess the annoying thing for me is that someone in the group told me there was a water hazard around there after I'd declared and played the provisional and he then insisted I play the provisional ball and not from the hazard! I'll chalk that one down to experi...

Re: Golf Rules - Questions and Answers

Question about lateral hazards. I was in a situation where I was playing a course I hadn't played before. My drive was a bit wayward so I played a provisional. When I walked up to where my first shot should have been I discovered that it was a lateral water hazard. I wanted to play from the hazard b...

Re: Red plate

I'm not sure if the red plates have got anything to do with whether you can drive at night or not. Early afternoon, we got stopped in Isaan, near Korat, on a long journey to HH and were told you need to fill in the book for every journey otherwise it's a 400 baht fine. He let us off with just a warn...

Re: Transferring Money from UK bank to Thai bank.

I've been using the FX Firm for years. http://www.thefxfirm.com Once you're set up the trades are 'free' for any amount and you get a much better rate than the banks. They build the transfer fee into the exchange rate so the more you transfer at a time, the better the rate is. You get charged inboun...

Re: Thai law and legal fatherhood of children outside wedloc

I adopted my own natural born son here in Thailand. I needed consent from his mother, who I am still with. I am now his sole custodial parent, and she no longer has any custodial rights. Seeing as how her consent was required, I would expect that consent from a father would also be required, esp if...

Re: Thai law and legal fatherhood of children outside wedloc

Quoted from Steve G: One thing has just occured to me; seeing as many people with Thai partners support children from their previous relationship, does this child have to be your own or can you get shared custody of your partners child this way? I would expect that custody of any child would requir...

Re: A dentist who listens?

I'm going to try BKK hospital, to see if I can have it extracted under general anaesthetic. The dentist said asking might be worth a try but she didn't think they'd do it. Failing that I guess I'll just have to grow some, and get it done under local :( That reminds me Pleng. About 7 years back I re...

Re: Timing the renewal of a Car Driving Licence.

Not sure about that Terry but my recent experience with renewing my 5 year license is that you have a year's grace after it expires. Unfortunately I missed it by a month and have had to start again with a 1 year one :banghead: It's not just for us. My Thai wife missed her renewal by the same amount ...
