Re: Ear Wax Removal

Exactly my point. You are conditioned to expect the lowest level of care at the cheapest cost from the NHS. It doesn't work like that here. A truly ignorant comment. It's actually really good efficiency. You don't need a Doctor to do this task and here it's just a way for hospitals and Doctors to m...

Re: Ear Wax Removal

Problem is most British can't stand the fact that one must pay for quality healthcare out of their own pocket so they go for the cheapest option. Throw in a weak £ and maybe it's time for them to go back to the NHS and some 'free' Doctor from Pakistan. Mate, we're talking about getting wax out of a...

No, but the clinic opposite Hua Hin Hospital is very nice, and you could have spent the change on a decent meal in a nice hotel if you want luxury.
Is that the one on the Petch Road? Do you know the hours they are open?

Re: Cornwall and South Devon more European than English?

Lots of great cider made in Cornwall. I always visited Penwith and on my way back would always stop at Healey's cider farm to buy some goodies, particularly still cider which I really liked. They supplied draught cider to a lot of pubs in the area as well. Their orchards were amazing, it was like a ...

Re: Music - what are people listening to now?

I see myself as an affocionado for ELP's music. Are you on the ELP appreciation group on facebook?, 19,500 members and growing all the time. https://www.facebook.com/groups/162530520477144/ I got introduced to the band from a friend a couple of years older than me - I was 13 or 14 - who brought ove...

@ option

On another forum I use, not Thai related, a reply option is an '@' facility. Pressing this option takes you to a new reply window which starts with @caller which is highlighted and notifies the person it is aimed at that he has received a reply. It cuts down on a lot of clutter and I wondered if it ...

Re: Top three nearby restaurants north of Cha-am

The one that beats them all is So Sofitel Hua Hin, which is 20+ km's north of Cha am. Caller, SO Sofitel is my neighbour. And my Condo is 5 km north Central Cha-Am, add 25 km to Hua Hin, so it is about 30 km!! outside Hua Hin. I stand corrected - thanks. Not sure why I exaggerated the distance from...

Re: Cornwall and South Devon more European than English?

I have always understood that the UK was once part of mainland Europe. To what extent has I assume, been based on theory as much as fact. I think what's more interesting is the movement of people and how that characterised areas. Cornwall has a fascinating history and strong Celtic connections, as e...

Re: Is East Square Being Refurbished Again?

The New Horton, according to booking sites. I didn't have time to clock that as I drove past. Looking at the pics, the rooms seem to have had a cosmetic make-over. I liked it. The rooms were huge compared to most at the price point and very comfortable. I stayed there a few times when I could get th...

Re: Top three nearby restaurants north of Cha-am

Is there a north - south misunderstood? North of Cha-Am is Tha Yang and Petchaburi. South of Cha-Am is Hua Hin. Cha-Am begin in south as a part of runway from Airport Hua Hin. I think some confusion arises because many of the hotels & resorts North of the Province border, even way up close the Cha-...

Re: Early renewal of UK passport no longer has remaining validity of old passport

Right on cue, I just found this. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-45512152 Just think of all those Brit tourists who will probably say 'sod it', I can't be a***d to get an IDP, we'll go to Scotland instead'. Just think of all those EU lorry drivers needing IDP's to drive in the UK? God help us i...

Re: Early renewal of UK passport no longer has remaining validity of old passport

I don't see how you can ignore Brexit. Surely the reasoning, as explained in the link in the opening post, is that after Brexit the UK will be a "third country" (i.e. not an EU member state), and EU countries require visitors to have passports issued within the last 10 years, therefore if time is c...

Re: Early renewal of UK passport no longer has remaining validity of old passport

Passports with validity over 10 years (5 years for children) Since 2001, some adult British passports were issued with a validity longer than 10 years. This is because if you renewed your passport before it expired you were allowed to have the time left on your old passport added to your new passpo...
