Re: Thailand's foreigner crackdown: stricter screening, monthly reports, working raids
They exist, usually under an MOU. But these are normally only given out to larger (multinational) companies. Catering and such do not really have that exemption. Most are legally employed in construction and manufacturing and smaller businesses on the borders between Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cam...

Re: Thailand's foreigner crackdown: stricter screening, monthly reports, working raids
It's a weird one, as many Burmese, Cambodians and those from Laos are legally employed doing the sort of jobs that I thought were reserved for Thais - construction workers, cleaners in Malls, working in restaurants all over and so on. My other half gets really frustrated when it's obvious the person...

Re: Cambodia to take up long-running border dispute with Thailand at UN's top court
I see the Thais are now saying that the Cambodians always stip up the border issues when there are big domestic problems at home, to divert attention away from the issues they are getting flak about. I think that is working equally for the Thai Govt. as well.

Re: Electric Vehicles (EV) Thread
but looking them up, it certainly does look like things aren't exactly going to plan. Factory closure, sales plummeting, problems with supply chains..... Is the EV market simply saturated with Chinese products? I seem to remember the building/construction sector getting massive support from the Chi...

Re: What is going rate for Health Insurance?
Another factor, is what visa you are here on? OA requires insurance from an 'approved' list of companies, otherwise the extension isn't allowed. The cost seems to be be incremental, in that it remains the same for a 5-year period, once a trigger point has been reached, 50, 55, 60 etc. Well that's my...

Re: Flights to/from Thailand status, news, and updates
DB my mate recently flew Brisbane /Bkk on jetstar and he was hoping to do it again next March... no longer. According to this part of the report, international flights in and out of Oz are continuing: "Jetstar Airways’ international services in and out of Australia will also remain unchanged.&...

Re: Bluport Immigration Office
It looks like there's been a change of plan about immigration moving to the 3rd floor. Having nothing better to do, I wandered up there the other day just to see what was on the 3rd floor now. First thing I noticed was the immigration sign previously there, had gone. Then I noticed a sign saying tha...

I think, from reading the report in the BP, that safety standards are non-existent!

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
A question for any electrical "experts". During that bombardment my place had 5 very short power cuts(a few seconds). I've noticed in my garden there is a large palm tree with one of the branches in contact with the power line into my home.(too high up for my step ladders to reach) Could ...

Re: Weather in Hua Hin & Thailand
Don't know what's happening elsewhere in Hua Hin, but we have just been subject to a massive bombardment of rain here. Not often it is so heavy for such a long period. Think I'll give driving to town a miss!
