Re: Property developers want foreign condo quotas hiked
That's going to work well when they start implementing tax on foreign remittances.

Re: Renewing a UK passport in Thailand
As of January this year, they hadn't.
I had an appointment at Trendy about the 17th to renew mine but was called back to the UK urgently and did the renewal there.

Re: Thai passport renewal ... 10 years?
Actually, DB yes the UK can be really efficient.
I know it's not the right thread, so very briefly, they turned my renewal around in a day (although I didn't collect it for four). All online now.
Bear in mind that I did mine in January and I was 30 minutes away from a passport office.

Re: Thai law prohibits foreigners from driving passengers.
If I drive to a golf course for a competition and someone needs a lift back into town, am I going to worry about taking them? No. As D-M says, we'll be back to the fear mongering days of not being able to breathe in your own home in case they decide you're working in some way. This is a quarter of a...

Na.
Operating a taxi service and taking money is obviously a no go. As is being a tour guide. Always has been and probably always will be.
Driving your friends around? No, again.
I've heard this old chestnut countless times over the years here. Don't let it bother you.

Re: Having a sunday roast at Gordon Ramsay in Bangkok.
In England, I cooked a mean roast dinner! Not here though, its not worth it. If yours was a mean roast dinner, I agree it's a lot of hassle, but it has to be worth it. Nobody can beat my family's home cooked roast for me, and it sounds as if your home coast roast was special for you. We don't do it...

Re: Photo Trip Report: Camping The North
I've meant to ask this before but how much equipment do you take? Do you have the tables, chairs, parasols etc or are they all at the camp sites? Cooking equipment blah blah?
Could be a lot of stuff.

Those three independent ones shut well before covid.
Tavimook was the last to go and that was about 6 years ago.
Time flies.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Hold on. If you're suggesting I'm scaremongering, you're wrong. I'd just like clarification of procedure. Hey, who wouldn't? I used to answer pretty much all the visa stuff on here and always tried to be literal. But that has nothing to do with the point in question - unless maybe we don't get our e...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Panic is a big word.
I'd just like clarification of which way it'll go. You know, do I pay first or account for it later? If I owe something.
Pretty simple stuff really.

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Seems to me that Thailand is just following the trend of global taxation. If you live in the UK for more than 183 days (I think that's it) then you will be liable for UK tax on all your earnings worldwide. Unless you can show that you've paid tax somewhere else. So, are the monies transferred into T...

Re: Tax residency in Thailand and taxing overseas income
Seems as clear as mud to me but going by what the "experts" say in the linked BP article, it appears to me that they're going after Thais who have a foreign income. If the new rules only apply to the three income areas mentioned, I don't see that those of us living here on annual extension...
