Re: Greetings folks -- a self introduction

Welcome and good luck with your plans. Dannie Boy and migrant are right, build a good reputation quickly and I would think it should be more than just a time-filler for your missus. Is your mother OK with high heat and humidity? I sit outdoors a lot but when inside I use aircon pretty much all the t...

Re: Aspirin

Or, you could look up natural blood thinners and not worry about side effects. It's a good suggestion, but is there any way to check to see how effective each one is when you use them? Some natural remedies for problems work and some don't (for example I'm taking turmeric and black pepper capsules ...

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

I think if 2 boys are in cave 3 they can be considered as rescued already. So 6 is correct, but they just didn't walk the rest of the way out. :)

Wonderful news, but if I were religious I'd still be praying that no accident befalls any of the boys still to dive. It all sounds so perilous.

Re: Email Preference 2018

I use eM Client on my desktop, paid for version, for IMAP mail handling (I access it on more than one computer, including my phone). I also use Gmail, I had my account since Gmail was in Beta. It's fine for most stuff actually. I have an Outlook account just to use when I'm signing up for something ...

Re: Thai officials believe 12 boys missing in cave are alive

for the highly experienced Brit rescuers it's a 3hr hike to get to the boys. Actually, it's very relaxing. You don't feel the weight of the gear. Only taxing part is swimming against a current. As the divers were swimming against the current to reach the boys, maybe the current would assist swimmin...

Re: Another view of the cave rescue

Thought provoking, but I'm unconvinced that the handling of the rescue by the state (including the 'buddhafication' of it) "subtly replicates the model of state violence". Denying the power of local superstition and invoking the state religion does not mean suppression of the people, surely? I feel ...

Re: FedEx now have office in Hua Hin

AFAIK DHL in Bluport basement is still up and running. If you are in or planning to visit Bangkok there seems to be a Skynet office there. I used them for 12 years in Dubai because they were much (much) cheaper than DHL/FEDEX and the service was excellent. I don't have experience of their Thai offic...

Re: The scourge of Facebook

I believe that no mater what option you select, Facebook will NOT want to show you all of your friends' posts, it will decide which to show you before then offering you posts which you did not ask to see. The rest of your friends' posts you will not see unless you do what I describe below. I think t...

Don't go overboard! Google can and will block ad serving if it 'thinks' they're being clicked unnaturally.
I'm guessing that must be in vastly bigger numbers than even the might HH Forum army can manage with their mouses (meese?) :)

Re: The Beer Thread

The term 'craft beer', which I always despised as a 'marketing' americanism anyway, has been devalued since it has slowly been coined to mean almost anything. US brewer Yeungling (one of the largest breweries by volume in the US) now also qualifies as a craft brewer. https://vinepair.com/beer-101/wh...

With regards to the availability of Snowy Weizen, can you buy retail from the Singha distributor? Where we live (not in Hua Hin) you can buy cases of Snowy for 550 baht (12 tins) at any time of day. Kopper looks promising, finally some selection beyond three chemical tasting lagers! Yes looking for...
